Generally... if people want to be contacted, you can find their contact information along with their profile/online information.

Yeah, I know that. But it's nice if there could be a thread every once in a while displaying all of the contact information so that it's easy to get to
Get what I'm saying? I thought I'd make the effort to talk to people but it took me AGES to find people who had AIM. Personally, I think this is better.

I'm sorry that happened to you!
I don't use AIM or MSN. I do have YIM, but that's mainly for contacting people at another forum I sometimes mod at. I don't like putting that information out there. Plus, there are things called bots that just troll forums, message boards, etc. looking for emails/ims. The email info I think if I remember correctly is used for spam. Don't know about the ims ... is there spam there?
Ginger, I do think it's nice that you want to reach out and get people talking!
