You have received an official warning from the Neopets Team for violating the Neopets Terms and Conditions. Scamming people by offering to buy their items and lying about it is not only rude but can get your account frozen for scamming. If you continue to break the rules, your account will be permanently frozen. To see a list of Neo Rules, please visit http://www.neopets.com/chatrules.phtml. Please do not reply to this NeoMessage.

Ok. the situation is as such. I offered to buy this item from a person, and after agreeing on the price, he set up an auction but just as I was about to bid, someone else whom I neomailed earlier gave me a better price on that item, so I naturally bidded on that other person's auction! Is it not right to take the lowest offer when you are buying an item?

Also, does this warning mean that i will be frozen?

Well, I guess you could have NeoMailed them.

That does not mean you will be frozen, though. It's just a warning. :)

I did neomail the owner saying that I won't be bidding on the lot anymore. And I can't neomail TNT. "Please do not reply to this NeoMessage."

That is worded oddly. They can't possibly mean that offering to buy someone's item and then not buying is wrong...???

What sort of definition do they have for 'scamming' anyway? I asked Opera to define it, and only found definitions pertaining to an act where money/items/property are taken from somebody through underhanded means. The other person didnt lose their item, and you didnt gain anything at their expense.

If you were going to bid a price that they said was okay, and then just didnt bid, theres no scam about it. You didnt cheat, lie, con, swindle, fraud, or manipulate in order to get their item. :/ Especially since you neomailed the person to say that you wouldnt be bidding on it anymore.

Since when is scamming not buying an item from someone? Wouldn't scamming be tricking someone into selling it to you for cheaper, or somehow getting the item from the person? They still have their item. That's insane.

exactly! thats what i dont understand! the person still gets back his item at the end of the day! he doesnt lose his item so how can it be considered a scam? i just hope i wont be frozen for this. it would be the dumbest thing to be frozen for.

I personally would mail tnt via the support form and ask about being wrongly reported/warned and ask for further clarification as warnings stand on yer file I was told by a friend though wether or not its true I don't know. She was warned twice and told me later when she tried to get her account back that was wrongly frozen later they said she had had so many arnings and as such it wouldnt be unfrozen. Whats the worst that can happen? They don't reply to you? but at least yer making a valiant effort you know hon?
