I'm a little PO'd. Why? Lets take several of the comics in the NT this week:

http://neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?s ... 8&week=153

http://neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?s ... 7&week=153

The first one, with the kyrii, is a DIRECT COPY of a recent garfield comic, in which he says those exact same things!

The second one is a almost direct copy from Calvin and Hobbes, in which instead of a super attack pea, calvin says he'll use his flamthrower on them. (and of course it's hobbes, not a pink kadoite next to him.)

how could TNT let copy-cat comics(plaugerism actully) into the NT? :x

In the copy of the calvin and hobbes one, basiclly the only difference is the charecter says super attack pea, wheres in the orignal, it was a flamethrower. :x (don't ask me how I can remember that...my memory scares me somtimes. O_o)

It runs daily in one of the papers here. It's growing stale. even the sunday comic is losing it's touch.

Calvin and hobbes was (IMO) one of the most masterful comics ever written. Not only was it hillarious, but there was a BUNCH of hidden messages (which you really only get if you read one of the artists books which explains them)... and yeah. Perhaps it was before your time. I suggest you go to a bookstore and look for them though, if you like neopets, and you like funny; Calvin and hobbes is for you.

And back on topic.
This happens a lot now a days. People see jokes and decide to use them as their own. Generally things like newspapers, or anything that publishes have the common decency not to print rip offs like this. But... this is Neo.
And Setekh does have a point that they may not read those comics.
You may not remember a particular comic from way back in the day (like Calvin and Hobbes) and Garfield may just not be printed in their local newspaper. So they could be in the dark.
They're funny if by themselves, but if you compare and contrast to the comics in question they're obvious rips (which makes them unfunny).

Here's the Garfield comic you're talking about:

Outrageous! How can they allow plagiarism?

I recognized the 2nd comic as a ripoff of Calvin & Hobbes the moment you posted it (I own a coupel of those books). Then again, I've read a Neo article that suggested for people to copy their favourite comics to get into NT, so...

My only guess is TNT doesn't read those Garfield or Calvin & Hobbes, and takes them as original.
(This is off topic, but how are you supposed to even read this comic? http://neopets.com/ntimes/index.phtml?section=18687&week=153)

if I were you I'd report it... send it in along with scans of the original garfield/calvin comic strips. there are so many people who want to get into the NT with original work it's sad that people who are just stealing are getting in instead of them.

heh, i found a couple calvin and hobbes books in our garage a while back, so my dad and I started reading them together... we both really enjoyed them! :D

Okay, gettig back on topic...do you think we should report them to TNT? I really don't think either of them deserve a trophy.

While the second one MAY be excusable (I think there was enough Neo-twist on it... but it was still VERY plagerized), the first one is really bad. They even have the poses and such copied. It's horrible, someone should write the author and the people for the NT.
