I've been spending time on the I/S board, looking through boards and sending the never users letters with the following:

Quote:
Do not post chain letters. See the "Please bump this board!" topic in Ideas/Suggestions for more details. By posting chain letters, you run the risk of getting your account banned.

I made a topic by that name in Ideas/Suggestions. I'm not sure what impact this will have, but if someone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. Gives me something to do while waiting for a restock.

EDIT: Heheh. They warned me for "spamming" because I asked people to bump. Well, I made another topic, this time asking people to "post comments" instead.

Yeah, I hate chain letters. Especially on the trading post. It clogs up the post with junk items. :x I always report any chain letters I see if the poster has an account above 1 month old. If it is below 1 month I send them a neomail telling them how chain letters never work and can result in freezing.

Whenever I see a chain letter I neomail the person this
Quote:
That message doesn't work. Its not a neopets code, you won't get np, you won't get a paint brush, you won't get anything except perhaps a frozen account since chain messages are a reportable offense (I'm not threatening you, its just a warning that people will do so). So for everybody's sake including yours, please do not post that message again. It only encourages others to fall for it.

It works like a charm. I used to send them angry letters to get them to stop, but when the responses were more irate than I was, figured I'd take the polite cautionary tone. Now all I get are apologies.

I usually direct them to my pet JubiNumo's petpage, I have a section listed under "The Spam Scam" about that chain letter stuff.

I was recently contacted by a group who has their own pet page specifically directed at educationg folks about the stupidity of chain letters. :) They were so cool I had to give them a link on my page. Good reading, and a great place to direct any newbie you find posting those things....

Stampsy: Love your siggy XD And don't worry, you're helpful :p

The site is pretty good, though I have no intention of reading everything that explains what "spam" is :p
