I know you've heard me whinge and moan about not being able to get restock but im starting to think there really are autobuyers out there the speed at things go it cant be humanly possible. Can it? I click on something (unless its something cheap and not worth much) and its gone already i dont have a slow connection either

Any thoughts guys? Thanks

Generally someone who uses an autobuyer can be caught if one person gets the majority of the higher rarity items. Recently, when a new plushie was released, one person gained 9/10 of the plushies restocked on one particular day, and it was clear that that person was uses an autobuyer, but usually it isn't easy to tell that way.
However, people aren't able to use autobuyers any more because of the system used. Because of the new system in which one clicks on a pet rather than types in a code or just clicks on a 'submit' button, an autobuyer can't detect it, and as such, they can't be used.
*grumbles about ambiguous questions and someone wasting 5 minutes of my time* - Not your fault, don't worry

actually, using an image-based program a person could take away the background image if they had it saved and find the pet easily by looking at where the white was .... or if the person wasn't away from the computer while doing it

I thought auto-buyers will be frozened due the program that they were using as soon as possible. :P

I sure hope ABers are frozen I mean fair enough there are faster connections than mine and faster fingers probably but sometimes i have to wonder about how fast they are

Depends on the speed of the AB. If it's running on a slow computer, it'll get items, put people might fairly haggle/buy them, so it's less noticeable.
As to whether there are AB's, 99.9% sure...and there's little way of stopping them, short of Neopets taking legal action.

Ive been restocking in the book shop just lately and I had a bash in the bakery too, now i am no 1337 restocker it takes me ages to type in my price and my computer very often hangs on the haggle screen. But I have been managing to get around 4-5 items in a restock. Not great items mind but no shabby ones either, so it doesnt seem to me as though there are ab's.

So tell me then, if there are no autobuyers, why do folks still get frozen for "using an autobuyer to buy things from shops"

Good question! If there aren't any ab'ers out there, then why are people being frozen for using them?
I don't rs, I'm on dial up so things take awhile to load. I used to be able to get a few smaller things when I could turn images off - then the pages loaded faster, I could get haggle and actually buy something sometimes. Then came Kauvara's code - need images on for that to show up. Now the image you have to click. Well, by the time that fully loads 99.999% of the time the item is gone.
All that just won't fly when you're competing against people with high speed internet and fast computers. From lurking on rs boards though, there are people who will tell you there are ab'ers in the shops, that somehow they've gotten one that can "see" the pet that has to be clicked. How? I have NO idea - I'm as non-tech as they come.
But when someone with a T-1 connection says they're not even getting haggle on certain items, and then you see one person with a tp lot of, say, the newest rare plushies in a trade, you gotta wonder. Can one person really get 10 rare items in a day? Yes I've seen ss of the "such and such has been added to your inventory" to prove they weren't auto-bought. I've also seen ss showing that with the picture of one thing and the name and description of something else
Not everyone who's lucky enough to have a fast computer, fast internet and nimble fingers is an auto-buyer. I would never assume that. And I have seen a couple of people I knew falsely accused and mass reported for ab'ing when I'm pretty sure (not sitting next to them - but had known them for awhile) were certainly not ab'ing - they just got lucky on an item alot of people wanted.
But there are some people that you just have to look at and go

Heh, I know of alot of people who autobuy. I know places where they get them. Sure, neo can add more security to their restock systems. But, there will always be autobuyers. Neo cant stop them. Thats why they add new security to the system. To help stop even the none autobuyers from restocking good things. Thus, Making it easier for the autobuyers to restock.

I just wish that when Neo did freeze them, they would have the decency to take the illegally gained items out of those accounts and put them back in the Neopian shop from which they came.
Autobuyers are the reason I am now looking at rarity 98 plushies going for a million on the TP, instead of the 250-300K a year ago. So many are stuck in frozen accounts that there aren't any left for the people that want to buy them.
Grumble.

-Wishes people would stop talking about autobuyers so much...-
It brings up bad memories...

Yes, there are AB's out there.
I believe most are in shops just to grab the really good items, and since there are so few r99's or r98's, they don't get caught.
But when I restock, I use this laptop. It has a wireless connection, and I consider it fairly fast. I can refresh every second at the shops, and when I click the at the second of the restock, and can't even get to the haggle page, I become quite suspicious.
The reason I believe AB's are just there to grab extra-rare items is because I can restock most other items, but when something rare pops up, it's gone like that. Instantly. Like I said, pretty suspicious,

I agree i wonder if the problem in restocking also has anything to do with the load time of the ad banners i dont block ads and i just find that sometimes if im unlucky i get stuck with a banner which loads for AGES and by the time i click its gone...maybe these people are blocking ads? i dont know if helps
