No, I'm not asking what time zone, I know that it's PST, same as mine. But what I'm wondering is, what era is it in? They removed the movie shop long ago due to it not fitting with the technology level of neopets, and they don't allow cars into the NT. But then there's always things that make you wonder. For example, there's still Nigel's car and the cars in Bumper Cars. Second, what about the building quality. The buildings seem pretty well done, probably requiring mechanical tools suchs as drills, lathes, and stuff like that. Not to mention blueprints (I believe I saw a pet with one when I was watching my house get built) indicates a higher level of technology. Even some of the upgrades are electrical in matter, both in the houses and in the Plushie Tycoon shops. Then there's the space station. This place has a rather high level of technology, and while most of it was built by Sloth, or so I suppose, it's hard to believe a little bit of reverse engineering didn't take place. After all, the pets are apparently familiar with how to work an elevator.
So the question is, what era do you think NP takes place in? I believe it'd be rather important for anyone planning on doing a NP comic, story, or cartoon.

Maybe like 1940

1500 - 2500. neopia's a crazy world

Since Neopia isn't earth,so their time doesn't have to be similar with us. For all I know, there could be dinosaurs (corrected- Tyrannians) and high level technology centres at the same time. That's what I reckon anyway.

I think Neopia does have just about the same technology as Earth's, just minus some of cool stuff that we have (computers, gameboys, and so on.) After all, Neopia and Earth aren't the same thing

Well, there's talking animals walking around. So my guess is it takes place in the make-belief-world-era

Well neopia is the only place I know that all in one day you can go visit some cavepets, travel a few thousand miles (or so) and visit a nice king in medival neopia, travel another thousand miles or so and see some faeries, then hope on a spaceship and visit a floating space station or walk on a moon...
Yes, neopia is a crazy place...

Well.. right now, neopia is in the year 6.... thats all THEY know...
for us, they dont really have an age, because look, they have an egyption world, phrehisotric, medieval, futururistic, AND pirate level... its like history in 1!! now im just waiting for a Viking world or Mongols world....

Neopia's year 6 is equal to our year 2800, where cars do not exist as they pollute the enviroment a lot. Instead, Earth will have floors that will move.
O_o

Wow... some people really think about things too much!!!
Anyway I don't think Neopia has one standard era, because it's the future on Kreludor and the Space Station, the 1800s on Krawk Island, medieval times in Meridell and Brightvale, prehistoric times in Tyrannia, and so on.
Maybe neopia exists outside of time and space

Modern Medieval kinda. I play RoN and I'm obsessed with ages. I think it depends on the server.
Everything kinda depends on magic and Sloth. Kass, Space ship, Bi planes in meridell and whatever you cna think off.

Nigels car is so outdated!

I'm not a fan of star trek but photon phasers...

Talking flying dragons.
That's all I'm saying.
Given that workmanship of a lot of renaissance-era buildings is far superior to our own, mechanical drills and lathes aren't that important - besides, both existed by the middle ages. So let's say some time in the 1500s?

In reading the descriptions of each world (found under the Neopian map), I get the sense that it is supposed to be set in the present--2005. After all, Neopets has rock bands (including a punk rock band) with CDs, a stock market, Barbie-like dolls that you can dress up in different outfits, a Neolodge with a jacuzzi and sauna, souvenir magnets (to go on your fridge), a pizza shop, hair conditioner, fondue, "smoothies," a space station, and Nigel's bright red sports car.
I think the confusion comes in because some of the worlds are from the ancient past. If you read the descriptions, however, you see that Meridell, the Lost Desert and Tyrannia are lost lands from the past that were recently discovered by Neopians. So, I guess you travel backwards through time to visit those worlds of Neopia. And, Krawk Island is modern day but a bit behind the times because it is inhabited only by pirates. Faerieland is found in your imagination, I suppose. Unless you have a good set of wings to get 10,000 feet above Neopia. But, the rest of the worlds seem to be set in the present.
