Strange Neomail..

Mon Feb 07, 2005 7:27 am

A Neomail I recieved earlier... made me think, then made me laugh..

hello my friend issgore said that you stole his account... i know he isnt to bright to give away his pw to you but only someone lazy and selfish would take advantage like that. you could make neopionts easy you shouldnt steal from him. but please give him back his account and money and stuff. please i'm begging you to he really loves his neopets. please

I have never been to the neoboards, I lurk there.. but i've never posted. Also I haven't traded with anyone in months, nor auctions.. Only thing I can get is this person found out about me through the new avatar being released.. When the 'Ace Zafara Avatar' was released, I got on the top 30 scorelist at the time. I just tried to get the main score, nothing higher really, just for the avatar.. and then like a couple hours later I get a neomail from someone saying that their was someone on the neoboards saying I(my account) was their side account or they shared it. And trying to tell everyone they got the avatar that way, or something. I only have 4 people in my neofriends list, and them's guildies. I've been frozen in the past, none for fault of my own I can safely say.. but we've all heard that, So I just won't get into it :)

..anyway, i've worked on this account since day one that I made it, everything on it is legit, most my earnings came from NQ2. My lab, My pets stats, ect.. So all this is just utterly ridiculous.

Any thoughts on what I should do? I'll probably just ignore it, but your input would be greatly appreciated. :)

(also if this doesn't belong here, I apologize.. first time making a topic)

I've never reported anyone either, to whom it's never come to that deserved it, but i'm not saying they don't deserve it though... I guess you could say I try to lurk as much as possible, hate drawing attention to TNT on neo if I can help it when it comes to things like this. Sooo... I'll probably ignore it most likely, I'm just wondering if they have already reported me *shrugs*

That's nice to know :) I haven't recieved any more messages from them so, hopefully they'll leave me be :P

Thanks for the replies!

I don't think it hurts whatsoever to let Neopets know about this. It puts them on notice that someone may be thinking of falsely reporting you. That way if this person does ever decided to report you, you have a record of letting Neopets know about it beforehand.

I had someone report me once for buying a 1 np item in their shop. Seems it was the babysitter's account, she went to the bathroom and let the little kid play Neo while gone. The kid changed the price of her neocola to 1 np. I bought it. Then I got this neomail from the babysitter telling me that the kid had reported me and apologizing for the whole situation (note to self: if ever babysitting, do not leave young child unattended on the computer). This was back when you got a shop wiz record of everything purchased in your shop. So, immediately I wrote Neopets explaining the situation. Not five minutes later, I got a neomail from theneopetsteam telling me not to worry about it.

Strange but true story.

So, it doesn't hurt to let Neopets know that you did nothing wrong but get on the avatar high score list and that now you have someone attempting to tarnish your reputation.

This could just be a case of 'bad spelling' and the person has a username close to yours. I would reply and politely tell the person that they are mistaken, put a blurb in your user lookup explaining, and send an FYI to TNT ... just to be safe.

Thats what I would think too.

Anywho, even if they did it on purpose, what do they hope in gaining? It seems like a lose-lose situation where no one can gain anything.

*nods* So some of you think I should send a polite neomail about the whole situation to try to clear things up? 'Cause that wouldn't be no problem, They still haven't replied back,.. but if you think it's a good idea, I mean even I thought about it too.. but I then thought I didn't want a harsh neomail coming straight back at me saying this or that.

If they send you a harsh message back, THEN report it as harrassment
