Bit of a problem popping up with castle battles for me. The long and short of it is that if I play it for a while, it makes my computer crash.
Now, hold on, no, my computer isn't spy/ad ware ridden, it's not held together by blu-tac, or worse, running windows ME.
I have 512MB of RAM, which is plenty, a decent enough processor etc, but it seems that castle battles is enough to make my computer give up and shut down entirely, as if I pulled out the plug.
To put this in perspective, my computer runs Unreal Tourament 2004 on high quality settings without a problem. Yet, castle battles make my computer give up in a way I've only seen when I made it run an absurd amount of programs at once.
So, is it just me or does it need a little tweaking? Any input is appreciated.

Yes yes yes! It does the same thing to me, too. I feel so much better knowing I'm not alone in this. I love this game so much, but my computer hates it very much. I can play, but at soon as I get to the third castle or so, my computer shuts itself down. For some reason, this game makes it overheat. I use a gateway laptop, so it's not high wuality or anything, but you think it would be able to play a game without overheating. This is the only game that has ever happened with, too.

Exactly - it's the overheating problem. Makes no sense. Neopets will really have to fix this, because a lot of people have computers with specs about as high or lower than my own, so I'm sure this'll be effecting the majority of players.

I have a P4 2.8MHz PC with 512 Mb RAM, and a 64Mb Video card and its fine for me.
Maybe its a video card problem?

Overheating is an issue with your computer, rather than any single application (if any application places high load on your computer, it can overheat if the cooling inside the box is insufficient).
If I were you, I'd try switching renderers (with DX8 or OpenGL being the primary choices, if your system supports them). For some reason, Shockwave seems to default to a software renderer, which places high load on your CPU, and will cause it to produce more heat than usual.
(Right click, select properties, and in the 3D Renderer selectbox, choose the appropriate option)

Why thank you. What a stereotypically Oracle-Of-Wisdom-Admin type responce that was.
Seriously, do you guys get a book to do that or what? o.o

Nah, Hunter really is just an ultimate computer dude

Probably like McDonalds has Hamburger U.
EDIT: Neato! Switching to OpenGL improved imaging and speed both. Party on.

The game never crashed my computer but I switched to OpenGL anyway and shapu is right about it being faster. It is amazingly faster, like 10 faster. So is DX8. Thanks for the great advice.

Never thought of that, but then never had a problem.
