New ways of earning np

Tue Mar 01, 2005 2:34 pm

I feel there is a need for new ways to earn np on Neopets. Currently the main ways are:

1) Restocking
2) Games
3) Stock market (requires substantial capital)
4) Trading Post (requires substantial capital)
5) Competitions and contests (not very rewarding)
6) Shop Wizard Sniping (reselling)

I feel that these are too limited. Also, restocking can only be conducted by players with fast connections. Therefore, this thread is open for new suggestions on ways to make np, preferably fair, balanced and non-reliant on connection speed.

My first suggestion would be to increase the prize money sum for contests like random contests, story-telling competitions, art contests, Neopian times articles etc. Some of these contests require a significant amount of effort, and paltry sums like 10k are insufficient. I feel that the prize money should be increased to at least 50k, so that people can be rewarded for their talents and efforts.

I would normally lean towards increasing the payouts from games, but that would just lead to inflation.

Perhaps certain games could have their maximum payouts increased to, say, 1500 nps. Just a thought.

I can't think of very many legitimate alternative ways to make money in neopia beyond what you've stated.

Yes, that's why I am asking you all to suggest more viable ways. ;)

Well

This being my first post in about two weeks...due to things. I have a suggestion.

The obvious is increasing the Game Plays from 3 to 5.

A user who knows how to play Turmac Roll, Moon Rock Rampage, others who usually would roughly make 9k from playing say three games. But doing the increase would be playing for 15k total. That is almost 2x the amount of games he'd have to play to make that about, something I nkow about.

That would greatly stop inflation out of the Elephante Trunk and could even the game out once more.

I also agree that pumping up game payout would be a bad idea. Increasing the amount of dough in circulation was tried by the Romans for example it was just another chunk out of their empire that helped lead to its downfall.

Inflation sucks.

Let people pay for graphics, layouts, etc.

There is the sponsorship method of doing a quiz or signing up with them which is a way of gaining nps too.

I heard of ppl buying TCG and praying for a rare code item to sell off to gain nps...

Oh, I forgot that. However I can hardly believe that anyone would treat that as their major source of income...

It seems wasteful to spend RL cash to hope for virtual np...

Increase giveouts of rare items.... make rare items the prize for all contests, for example, and stop giving out codestones as "booby prizes." Maybe more games like NQII that give out good items (and get rid of the booby prizes for NQII as well.) Essentially, more things that give out good items on the site (and in a wide enough variety that the item it gives out doesn't loose all value.)

I agree about problems with inflation, but speaking as someone who sucks at restocking I think there needs to be more ways to earn NP on the site. However, anything that gives away NP in the form of items and not money will decrease deflation, rather than increase it.

Maybe it isn't about actual wealth and amount of Neopoints - perhaps it's just about relative wealth.

Perhaps bgryph is right - increase payouts of giveaway items. By decreasing the actual value of these items, inflation would be kept in check.

Perhaps implementing that with my redistribution idea of a few weeks ago...

I beg to differ. :P I won 100k from the last Lenny Conundrum. :) I think that's a bit more than mediocre. :P

An excellent idea that was forgotten by everyone way too quickly, by the way.

I think making the games payout a bit more would be nice. Inflation might occur, but there's no real way to way to add more money and not have that, and with the number of people restocking, there's virtually no way to deflate the neopian economy. I don't think people will lower their prices becuase people have less money than usual, they'll just wait longer.

I think it is a bit unfair that I can win 7990 at bilge dice and can only gleen 1000 np from a flash game, even when my score is much higher. Raising flash games to 5000 np limit would be great.
