You know they should let people have those avvys auto or the day it was realeased it should be out that day every year... cause it is really unfair to us newbs.

Some of them are released again on the same day the year afterwards. Its just the competition ones that are retired premanently which is fair enough.

I think it's pretty fair, some avatars are supposed to be rare. For example, the TCG ones are pretty rare and they're retired. If you cant get the retired avatars, too bad, but they'll release more.

I agree with you. Its very very fair. They retire avatars to make them more rare, for example, I wouldn't want everyone and their dogs going around with the Volcano Faerie avatar I rightly earned.

Exactly. I mean, I want that volcano faerie av really bad, but I had taken a break from Neopets when the plot was released, so I missed my chance. But I'm certainly not going to say that isn't fair... that's like saying it isn't fair that every new Neopets member doesn't have 10 million NP and a Darigan paint brush. Earn it, like the rest of us did. And if you miss your chance, stay on top of things so that you can get that next rare av!

I agree. If you miss an avatar one year, too bad, so sad. I would like to see TNT introduce a new avatar, rather than the same one again. I dont even care if the new one can be found in the same way as the first one, its just my opinion that if you missed out the first time around, its gone.

That's like saying "If I had started at the same time as psxfaq and featheralley I'd have a pet as strong as Majal_kita so therefore you should make my pet as strong as that"

Actually many avatars get revived anually, like the most recent Gadsgadsbogen one. That is quit fair IMO. Contests ones should stay retired since those contests don't happen anymore, while annual celebrations get repeated.

i agree as well some are good to have be rare.. i mean i want them but oh well lol but as for most of the retired ones they are all becoming limited but the war ones will never be limited.. and that's ok

*Raise hand*
Agree too. It is very fair. Since those retired avatar are counted as rare, they should be retired. Those that are semi-rare or easy to get are thus repeated. If you feel unfair or not happy with it, there is 1 way. Keep playing Neopets regularly and make sure that when the next rare or nice avatar that comes around u will work hard for it and get it before it is retired. Working is the way to everything.

While I agree with 99% of what you guys are saying (that retired avatars should stay retired, and it's fair for them to be rare) I just have to chime in...
Though I think retired avatars are "fair" and they should be rare, I think if an avatar is to be retired everyone should have a fair and equal chance at obtaining it that day.
Case in point: The april fools quiguki avatar...I was up all day since midnight on April 1st to see if there was a new avatar for the day. I chatted in the AC all day, and I must have checked the news page at least 100 times throughout the day to see if there was any word on a new avatar.
By 1am in the morning my time, I gave up, and went to bed, deciding there would be no avatar since it was so late.
Then TNT released the avatar late that night, and retired it on us Europeans before we had the chance to wake up.
If an avatar is to be retired, I really think they should be released on time and not be retired until at least a 24 hour period. Having retired avatars retire within 2-4 hour periods is unfair to certain players on the global aspect.

Is the Garlic'd avatar retired?
I have it, but my wife doesn't. She fed hed full up pet some garlic bread halves and it didn't give her the avatar

I don't think random theme day avatars retire ...or do they?
It might have been a glitch of some sort, or maybe it did give her the avatar, only without the "something has happened" thing popping up.
But in any case ...I don't see what's wrong with retired avatars, as long as TNT release them for 24 hours and no less. Then nobody can say it wasn't fair.

Thats fair, I mean its not right to have half of the world miss out cause they live in a different time zone. I think they should release the annual ones every year, like they do now, but as a new version.

I agree that any retired avatar should be out for at least 24 hours. I disagree that they should be re realsed. They should make a new one of similar type at that time next year that everyone can again get, but certain avatars should stay retiered to honor the people who have been with neopets longer
