Seeking to Foil Inflaters

Tue Mar 22, 2005 5:52 am

I have had it with inflaters. Buying 10 or 20 of an item to stash in your SDB is one thing, but a group of people buying cheap items until they are UB is beyond unfair. I snapped today :D

I'm not going to name the item, it's not important. It's one of those items that fluctuates in price, and I usually have one in my shop at the higher price so I don't miss it when the price goes up. One sold today. Yay! Then I put another one in. It sold within ten minutes! Never knowing when there will be a new av, and with Wednesday just about here, I checked to see if there was any buzz. Nothing.

Lame inflaters afoot. Not even good ones. I got them good:D I put up an item in the trades and put in my wishlist that there were inflaters about and the item was buyable. Even the best inflaters can't keep it up forever, but these guys didn't even last through the night.

Result? Within a couple of hours there were three trades below me by one person, asking the actual value of the item. On the shop wiz, the person who had their inflated items in the TP for 200k (but he was giving ya'll a break and only asking 150K, how nice!) was selling them on the wiz for 80k.

Maybe it wasn't the right/good thing to do, but I sure had fun and accomplished what I wanted.

Of course it was the right thing to do! Good job! *gives you a gold star*

People who practice false inflation are jerks. They're not helping the market, they're just trying to gain some extra np for themselves. I'm glad there are people like you who help put a stop to them when you can. <3

Hey, I don't mind if the book Playing With Fire goes up!
*just bought over 20 copies of it for his book shop*
I know what item is inflating though.....
And it is a Gourmet Food...
It's great what you did....
I put a trade up like that a while ago....
I forget what item it was being inflated.
And I don't know how I got rid of it.... I don't even know if I did.

Sounds like what they do to some of the books. Raise the price above its worth!

I do that every time somebody offers one on a trade for one of my more decent items. Karma.

Heh, those are exactly the kind of people that drove us all nuts on valentines. Stupid jerks.

I do the same thing when I see that happening, put one up in trades with a note of its actual value. :D
