The Pound...something I've always wondered about

Does anyone remember when there was another feature in the Pound, where you could just look at a certain species? Anyone know why TNT removed it?

I can't even remember how long ago that was, but I miss it.

It says on the the Adopt a Pet Search Engine:

The adoption search engine is back, but I am afraid we had to remove the pet colour and species lookups from it because they were slowing down the site. You can now use it to look for pets if you know their name.

I'm not sure when it was removed though

I miss it too, but it's sort of better why it's gone. I believe TNT took it off because it was easier to get a certain pet, let's say like a Cybunny. Since their limited edition, they were harder to find. So people would constantly search and refresh and then grab the nearest Cybunny and run.
It was convienent, but maybe a bit unfair. Don't know exactly when they took it off though.

I don't really see it as unfair. I mean, everyone had the chance to look for a Cybunny or other rare pet. Grabbing it fast still happens.

I just always get pets from the Pound and Lab them to get them painted, and sometimes I feel like labbing a certain species. It was nice when I could just look at that species and try to find a good name.

But now without it, the pets that come up on your screen are comppletly random and if a painted pet comes up on the side you have to copy the name and go to the search engine. IMO, I think they should display 3 pets at a time that you have the choice from and if you don't want any, refesh.

I recall them saying they took it off because it was causing the site to lag or bandwith or something silly like that...
That was also back before/around the whole Neoquest I problem where it continuously was causing the site to lag and go down.

They could probably put it back in now, but just haven't. O.o'; I'd like it again.

Yeah, they removed species and colour searching a long, long, long time ago! (possibly before I joined, and that was over 4 years ago) I think Neopets has many more servers (faster ones too) nowadays, so it could probably cope with it alright now.

I guess it mainly comes down to how essential a feature it is. A bit off topic... but personally, I think if any new search feature is needed, we need a better one to search for guilds! (the current one is woeful...)

I don't remember color searching, just species. And I've only been on Neo for 2 years.
