Rules Clarification for Gallery Accounts

I finally took the plunge and created a secondary gallery account this week. But now I'm totally confused on what is and isn't allowed on side accounts. I know we can't play any games, restock from the main shops, or visit the Tombola, Shrine, Fruit Machines, and Kiosks. But are we allowed to visit the Giant Omelette & Jelly? I seem to recall an editorial last year in which Donna said we could... Are we allowed to visit the Healing Springs if our pet gets a disease??

Do I send the items for my Gallery over from my main account via the Trading Post? If I change my mind later about my gallery theme, can I send those items back to my main account??

If we get a Random Event, such as a Codestone, do we keep the item in our side account, or do we send it over to our main account? Can we sell it?

The only rules I've seen on the site say that we can only earn NPs on our main account. Does this mean we can't resell off the Shop Wizard?

The frustrating thing is how the different TNT staff members all have their own interpretations of the rules regarding multiple accounts. I've read completely different responses that my friends have received from TNT.

With all the freezings that have happened recently, it sure would help if Adam or Donna stepped up to the plate and let us know exactly what is and is not allowed on gallery side accounts. It would help even more if TNT would just create a gallery function for main accounts. That way we wouldn't have to even create side accounts to showcase a gallery...

Oh the woes of the T&C! Odd, there was just a board about this last week on the prem board ... got to about 3 pages before it mysteriously went *Poof* and the person who started the topic, asking basically your questions and why doesn't the T&C spell everything out got a warning!

Here's my understanding ... I lost the email I had gotten due to an unexpected computer crash (and hadn't done a backup that week ):

You cannot do any dailies, including omelette, jelly, soup faerie, nothing that's a "freebie" except the Healing Springs - that is ok to use. Quests are also ok, except for the ones you want to do, like K-Quests, etc. Why? I have no idea.

The best way to send food, items, and just a little (at least at a time) np to a second account is by using the TP. Just don't have your gallery account "bid" with anything that's a freebie (don't use omelette, jelly, etc. - buy a couple of cheap plushies and send them over, then use to bid and repeat process).

As far as I know, you are not allowed to use a shop on a second account (anymore -- don't ask me how these big mall owners with 3 or 4 "superstores" are getting away with this one). I think the same thing goes for auctions/TP.

Someone I talk to did write to TNT asking about the RE thing -- they were told to send it to their main (np earning) account. Which is completely contrary to what we used to be told (don't send any of that stuff to your main).

Always use the TP for moving items, and put something in the wishlist saying that it's for your gallery. Right now, I'm in the very slow process of closing my gallery. I put up 1 or 2 trades at a time a couple times a week, buy omelettes on my main account and bid them for the gallery lots. That way my gallery pets keep fed. I put "reserved, returning to Main, closing gallery" on all the gallery TP lots. I've also posted a note to TNT on my gallery lookup. Yes, everything in my gallery account was bought on my main account.

I don't understand why it's such a hassle to do all of this and why we have to feel like we're looking over our shoulder all the time. I don't know why if people use the Send to Neofriend option between their accounts they can end up iced for "multi-accounts" -- that's just dumb. Using the TP is ok most of the time, but geez, we should be able to use use the Send To option if it's just a few items.

I do use Send To Neofriend for my lab account (see why I need to close the gallery?), but that's just omelettes and the occasional jelly that I buy from usershops on my main account. If adoption funds run out on the lab account (I'm an adopter/zapper/readopt, start over), then I will use the TP to send just like 1k np over from my main.

Do not ever "buy" an overpriced item from your gallery shop using your main account as a way to send np to that gallery. I do know people have been iced for that. Also, if you decide you don't want the gallery anymore, don't send any np that may be in the gallery account back to your main. That seems to be a big no-no.

Once my gallery items (including the things I'd taken out and put in my neohome) are all returned to my main, 2 pets are going up for adoption. Then I have to decide if I can bear to part with the 2 pets I created and painted ... and it was my first account. Much sentimental value. It may just sit and basically do nothing but keep the remaining 2 pets fed.

Feeling even more confused now? Write to support. Then you'll most likely be really confused. Cause people are writing, asking the same questions and getting conflicting answers!

Sierra, I have had a main account, a secondary account, and two galleries for 2-1/2 years now. And, no problems. Ever. Knock on wood.

I do freebies and games on only my main account. This includes jellies and omelettes. This includes all flash and non-flash games. This includes the advent calendar. This includes all wheels and scratchcards. This includes all non-uber faerie quests (I do the uber faerie quests that appear before me, depending on my mood). This includes all contests.

I also only look for avatars on my main account, just in case (I do have some on my secondary accounts, but those are ones that occurred naturally--like having 10 dung items in my inventory, having a gruslen on a pet. Nothing I "hunted" for).

I do, however, use the healing springs on my secondary accounts when one of my pets has been hit with an illness.

If I restocked (which I don't), I would only do so on my main account. However, I resell on both my main and my secondary account. "Resell" meaning hunting on the shop wiz for bargains and then reselling it in my shops. However, if I am shop wiz banned on one of those accounts, I do not go on the other account to hunt on the shop wiz until the top of the hour (when the ban would have been lifted on the original account).

Nps and items rarely move from the main account to the secondary account. And, when they do, I make sure that the one account is paying the market value to the other account for the items.

If I get a random event item on any of my accounts, I sell it on that account and don't move it to another account.

Regarding my galleries, I always buy the item to be put in the gallery on my main account and then move it to my gallery account. I vary how I move items from my main account to my gallery accounts. Sometimes I just send it as a gift. Sometimes, I do it as a trade. I don't ever move a lot over at once. Slow and steady.

I also vary how I move nps from my main account to my gallery accounts. Sometimes, I do it through a trade. Sometimes, I put an item in my gallery for 50,000 or so. The item I use to trade or put in my gallery shop for my main account to buy is never, ever a freebie, but rather something that is bought from a main shop. Not an omelette, jelly, tombola give-away, etc. I find green apples to work well. I never move any more nps than is necessary to keep my pets fed for a month (in the lodge), to increase my shop size, and to buy a few apples for the future moving of nps.

Neopets must realize that you have to move items and nps from your main account to your gallery accounts. Otherwise, no one would be able to have a gallery without getting frozen. I think the key is to not get crazy. Don't move 14 million nps in a day. Slow and steady as to not cause any attention to be paid to you. And, I have really big galleries and have never had a problem doing it this way.

Whew, that was a lot. I think I covered everything, but if you have any more things that come up that I didn't cover, let me know.

Another issue,TNT doesn't understand that some home only has a computer and everyone is using the same computer to log on to Neopets.Wouldn't it be unfair to freeze all the accounts?

Ever since Neopets ventured into corporate world,things took a change.We don't get personal reply from the staff about frozen account.We keep on getting automail (I keep on getting automail and I'm tired of it).It makes me think,do they even look into the matter or just click away?

Actually, I do think Neopets understands that some homes only have one computer and also realize that multiple family members play Neopets. We have three computers and, at times, all three of us have been playing Neopets at the same time.

I also have had two family members frozen and unfrozen within days after sending emails/snail mail to the staff. And, got personal replies each time. I also have gotten a personal reply and items returned to me after the SDB glitch. So, honestly, I have no real complaints about the staff. Maybe I am an exception, but I actually think Neopets is getting a little more customer-friendly than it used to be. I do wish there were more staff and a comprehensive deatiled list of rules, however.

There are 2 people who use this (my) computer for Neopets. I have my accounts, she has her one account. Now, she always used my computer, but then things happened and she's now a roommate. As soon as that happened I wrote to support and explained the entire situation, gave our usernames, emails, etc. I couldn't give alot of info on her account (we don't know each other's email passwords, let alone anything else -- we're privacy freaks).

I did get a very nice response, which I have saved and forwarded a copy to my roommate's email.

The T&C ... please, guys, send me the list of definite do's and don'ts. I'd be happy to turn it into something people could read and understand. I've done a complete terms of use for another forum/site I mod on, and while I'm not a lawyer, have had over 20 years experience working with them and have had to write pleadings. With that experience do you know I still can't understand the site's T&C? Neither can my 2 roommates -- and they both work in the legal field, one in corporate.

Oh, I can understand the T&C alright, EC. *cough* I have seen it before in the legal documents I worked on while a legal assistant and then in law school. The idea is to make everything so vague that anything and everything applies. In other words, if it is vague, then it can be interpreted any way that Neopets wants to interpret it. Slick move, eh?

By, the way, I am happy to help you put that together--for free. Something tells me that they don't really want the two of us defining terms. We are too black and white for them, EC.

The very least that TNT could do to improve things a bit is to put together an in-depth rules handbook for their monitors. This is ridiculous how the different monitors interpret regulations and give conflicting advise. I suppose consistency is too much to hope for....

Morningstar! I think you're right, we would be way to literal and black and white for them. No vague or unwritten rules? The sky would fall! I know from having something vague in a legal document, but the T&C kind of goes beyond the norm IMHO. It's like you can be kicked out at any moment for anything -- including things that no one knows about except through rumor and speculation.

I think this whole multiple account issue confirms that something needs doing.

Seriously, Sierra, I agree and I think we can all agree that at the very least all the support staff and the monitors should have a clear cut explanation of everything that can and can't be done.

Nothing worse than writing to Support with specific questions and getting an answer (a very nice answer) but nonetheless, seeing "I think so" and I don't know" ... and the questions I sent in were regarding multiple accounts -- sending items/np between accounts (np to gallery, items back and forth).

I wanted to just beat my head against a wall after reading that.

I love the staff, let me say that. I think they do a great job, and they have a hard job. It would seem to be common business sense to give your employees all the tools they need to do their job and do it efficiently and right. If they don't really know and they question what is and isn't ok, how are we supposed to know? It's an endless cycle of people writing in, more work for staff, more unfair warnings/suspensions/freezings.

To bring more confusion, on the Terms and conditions, it say you can't win trophies on your side accounts. Is that true? Maybe?

As for contests like the Beauty contest, yes you are allowed to enter in side accounts. (Now for the sake of fair play all prize money I earn stays in those accounts or in their bank till)

And the art gallery is another contest I've seen people get by with more than one account.

If we can't win trophies on side accounts, where does the trophy go for Gallery Spotlight? Do we enter from our main accounts, and just give the link to our gallery shop on our side account??
