10th June

* The final part of our Curse of Maraqua story is now live. Will Maraqua be saved? What will happen to Isca and Caylis? Will Garin give up his life of piracy?

* To celebrate, we will be releasing 50,000 Jetsams and 50,000 Kois for you to own throughout the course of today and tomorrow.

* Now that the battle is over, you can fight the normal one player challengers once again. A special area where you can choose your prizes will be unveiled on Tuesday, here is a sneak preview of some of the items you may be able to collect.

* You may also notice a rather groovy new side bar, this will be available for everyone for today and tomorrow, but after that you will have to unlock it to use it :)

* There is a new Mystery Pic competition. The answer to the last one was the Attack of the Revenge Playbutton. 527 people guessed the correct answer, earning 3,796 NP each.

* Things have returned to relative normality for Maraquans in this weekend's Caption Contest image.

* Well done Bootoot155! You should be very proud of your lovely home at 32491 Fruity Path, Mystery Island. It has just earned you this week's Neohome Spotlight award.

* Deep under the waves, a new shop has opened up selling all kinds of cute and cuddly Maraquan Petpets.

* The 194th issue of the Neopian Times has just been released. Look out for interesting articles such as 50 Secret Avatars That Will Never Be Released: Part Two and Feepits: Will they REALLY save us from the Meepits?.

* A new round of the Beauty Contest is about to begin. Make sure you cast your votes.

* To mark today's very special occasion, the Bakery has just whipped up some very special Maraquan themed cakes for you to enjoy.

* Guild Changes - We have improved the colour selection for guild layouts. Now you have the option of choosing from the pre-selected colour options, or you can enter your own colours using their HTML codes.

The layout preview window has also been improved and will give you a better idea of how your layout will look (so you don't have to change your active colours to find out what they will look like!). These colour options are available to current guild leaders under guild preferences, and you will also see them during the new guild creation process.

* King Kelpbeard has earned his place in the Gallery of Heroes.

* Many thanks to everyone who sent in their Petpet sounds. A new Random Contest has begun, and this week we are asking you to design your own Neopets album cover.

* The Toy Shop has eight new balloons on sale, each featuring heroes or villains from the Curse of Maraqua plot.

* Congratulations Wwefreak2! You have just won the final Pet Spotlight award of the week.

What a climactic ending.

What a great news update - well for me anyway :D Petpets everywhere, a new sidebar (please don't let it be difficult!) and they decreased the rarity of those new faerie plushies! Whee :)

A new Maraquan petpet shop?! What about the Rock Pool on Mystery Island, Maraquan Refugee Petpets at crazy prices"???

Fri Jun 10, 2005 11:24 pm

"I need excitment and treasure, not silk sheets and politics." -Garin.

...What? Silk sheets?

Anyway, I got no points in the war, the ending was horrible, and now I don't get to "choose" my prize. Bleh. :( I'm just going to go off and bake myself some cookies now.

I liked the art in the last frame... :)

Hmmm, it might be. I've never heard it before so it just really struck me as odd. I mean, if you had silk sheets underwater they would get all wet and I imagine they wouldn't feel to silky and pretty then, now would they?

Fri Jun 10, 2005 11:32 pm

I guess treasure and silk sheets would be out of the question then.
So this means we maraquans won the war then? Not just the plot, but all the fighting and supporting? They weren't quite clear on that.

Sat Jun 11, 2005 12:13 am

yeah, we "won" the "war"
or more likly;
we won because thats how they wanted it to happen, though i guess as the victors we could right in a load of rubbish about unending legions of the undead and some rubbish about cursed gold...

Sat Jun 11, 2005 12:14 am

But of course we only won because they had it all planned out.
That and the good guys seem to win a lot more often than the bad guys could ever dream of. :P

Great news day, compared to yesterday especially.
