Strangest neomail yet (and I've had some doozies!)

Thu Jun 23, 2005 5:15 pm

I just got this neomail from somone who has been playing for about a month now:

hello my name is brooke XXXX and i live in XXXXXXX missouri and i was visiting your shop and it was wonderful and i was wondering if you knew of any body who needs a babysitter i am very expierienced with children if you do have them neomail me at XXXXXXXXXXX thank you

I have x'd out her name, town, and neomail account name for her own safety. However, the neomail gave me her full name and town she lives in. And, the last name was unusual and the town was a rather small one.

In other words, it would be pretty easy for some stalker/bad person to get hold of her address and phone number, if they were so inclined. And, "pretend" to need a babysitter, if you get my drift.

Yes, my user lookup shows me as living in the US and yes, on occasion, I do need a babysitter. But, the commute would be ridiculous. Unless she has her own personal jet.

Where do I even begin in attempting to write back to her? I am at a total loss for words on this one.

Tell her you don't have kids, and you don't know anyone older than 14 years old - problem solved :>

I would neomail her back and in your most elegant way explain to her what she did and what could happen if she did it again.

Say you don't need a babysitter, thank you very much, and make a comment about April Fools being almost three months ago.

I'd do that, and tell her it was very thoughtful of her, though not very possible for her to do.

I wouldn't even neomail her back.
Could land you in a whole load of trouble if she decided to take it to TNT. Knowing them, bad things could happen.

Yes, that was my thought, as well.

But, I honestly don't think it was sent as a joke.

And, I do think that she could be setting herself up for some trouble if she is this naive.

If only I could ask her to put her mommy online, eh? To let her know just what the heck her kid is up to.

Guess, I will add it to my pile of crazy neomails and let it go at that.

If she had given her phone number, you could have called and asked if she was ready for the date. :o But you would have had to disguise your voice as an old man's or something. And then you would tell the mother that the girl was giving out her phone number/address online, and she would have gotten in a load of trouble. ;D

I was thinking of the exact same thing xD But only if she gave it in the first place... because asking would probably get you into trouble.

Does that mean the job market is stagnant in real world? :P

Turn the tables around! Tell her some phoney address and make him\her go all the way there ! LOL !!!

Just kidding. That is way Nasty. Just neomail her and explain that you have no kids nor will you want a babysister.

If this girl is so irresponsible with her own safety, she really shouldn't be trusted with anyone's children.

I would neomail her back and tell here you do not need a babysiter. You should also tell her that she shouldn't be giving away here personal info because of stalkers, murderers and the stuff could locate her.

I have to put in my two cents and say that I wonder if this is even a young girl at all? Kids are smart these days. Seems more like a old pervert plotting to find victims if you ask me...*shudders*

I think turning the neomail into TNT, without mailing the sender back, is the best solution. They will be able to look into it and legally take care of it, if necessary.
