How do you feel about a lot of Neopets turning anthro lately? Such as in this caption contest picture...
Should Neo cut back on the anthro-izing of PETS, or do you think it looks amazing and should be done more often?
Personally, I think it's okay, but only to an extent. I sort of miss the days when all the pets were represented as four-legged creatures who ran around and acted like well...pets. You know, back when the only clothes a pet would wear was a hat...

Well, it's a bit spiffy looking, but I do prefer that they stay as close to the pet designs as possible. For example, Hannah and Garin were done nicely, Scarblade was not (ever seen him attack on Attack of the Revenge? EEEE!!!)
I'm more annoyed about how all the plots seem to take place in the distant past or something. I WANT SLOTH!!!

I dislike them. They just don't seem like "pets" at all.
But then again, I don't really like anthro period, so I'm probably a little biased.

What Matterbug said. I came to raise some virtual pets, not little people.

I love 'em. I treat my Neopets like human beings, and think they look cool that way.

I can't really say what I've experience due to the fact that I'm a newbie... but looking back on things, it seems a little odd that pets all-of-the-sudden grow fingers and opposable thumbs. Look at Isca and Caylis, for exampe. That's really the only problem I have with it because I like both anthro and normal Neopets, but they could try and even it out between the two.
Anyways, that's my two cents.

I don't think it's right.
They are supposed to be "pets", not "flatmates".

I think it's okay, but I don't like how they give some of the anthros a whole seperate head of hair. Look at the Ixi and Aisha in the caption the creater posted. The hair doesn't look
right, you know? Like wormm said, my two cents.
And a chicken.

I really dislike it... or else they should change name to Neopets - Becomibg Human

I dunno. Personally, I think it's ok. It's a...nice look for them. I agree about the hair thing though, it's kind of awkward on some pets (such as Ixis), yet on some it can help (such as Aishas, who would look unusally bald. Seriously.).
As for my opinion on clothes...I don't think that they could do an anthro version of the Neopets without putting clothes on them. (They'd probably be sued by some organization of concerned parents somewhere in a remote village in Iceland.)
Alas, I suppose it depends on the artist and what the subject's about. It's kind of hard to barbaque something if you can't stand up.
But enough of my rambling - I want my two cents back!

Some of the anthro styles are OK, some aren't. I totally agree on the hair though. When Hannah and the Pirate Caves first came out, I was wondering; "WHY did they have to draw her with a head of hair?!? Being a pet, with *gasp* fur, I don't think she should have hair." Then when the sequel came out (HATIC), she's wearing a COAT. Kind of odd, being her species' day happens to be *gasp* "First Day of Usul SKIING season". Wouldn't she NOT need a coat then, if according to TNT, her species' SKIS?!?
Other times they look OK...
And like some of you said, you came to raise pets, not human wannabees. I remember the days of no clothes. It was more true to the theme.
You know, if they keep drawing them with clothes, then that gives us an excuse to try and make clothes from the clothing shop semi-useful.

I would suggest some counseling.....
I personally don't like anthro, but I don't think they have gone too far with it on neopets.

i'm a bit indifferent about it. what i am wondering about is why they're called anthro neopets. someone want to explain?

Anthro is a term used my role players for when they role play as animals standing on two feet. I think it originated from "anthropoligist" which is a person whos studies ancient people. People stood on two legs.

Anthro is short for anthropomorphism (a word that's easy to start spelling but hard to stop, hee!) which is the attribution of human characteristics and behaviour to objects, animals and things like that.
It doesn't bother me in plots though I would like it if they would do some quadraped plots too. But what bothers me mostly is how it is done. A wocky wearing pirates clothes and standing on two feet, that's fine. An aisha with a bust and supermodel figure? I don't think so.
This one bothers me a lot:
Mainly I'll admit because wockies are my favourite species, but also there was no need. Wockies can be made to stand on two legs while still looking like wockies. That one above though looks like a furry man with a wocky head stuck on

Where as here:
It's obvious that they can make pets stand on two legs while still looking sufficiently pet like. That's my view of it anyway
