Coming Soon: Neopets WAP site

I collected my daily McDonalds promotion things on Neo today, then clicked the 'Neopets Mobile' link at the top of the McD's promotion page. This takes you to the Neopets Mobile ringtone/wallpaper downloads page, which is funny enough since the McD's Happy Meal promo is USA only, while the phone downloads are only available in the UK and Australia.

However, there's now a picture which says "Coming Soon: Neopets WAP site" (it doesn't link anywhere). Has this been there long? Could it be they are about to release a WAP site enabling us to play with our pets via our mobiles?

This sounds quite interesting - a simple WAP interface to the site could be fun and enable me to feed my pets, collect dailies/bank interest etc, when I'm away from home. To those who have WAP-enabled mobiles, any thoughts?

I hope they create a WAP site available for all countries, and I hope it would feature daily links, not just wallpapers etc.

Last Yuletide season, I used to surf the Neo site with my Nokia 6230 phone because we don't have a PC at home, I did that to collect the daily advent calendar giveaway. The site is so graphics rich that it saturates the cache of my phone.

toy, if just doing that (going to advent) tapped out your phone, I can't imagine what this new thing will do. Plus the time used rate. I think there'll be alot of upset people once this hits and the phone bills start coming in.

Got my Neopets magazine and there is a short (one page) story with a link to the mobile page.

a sailor's tale

In the ports of Neopia, tales are told, of a mysterious island, marvellous to behold. It floats on the waves, drifting to and fro, going whichever way the prevailing winds blow.

Is it east or is it south? The sailors all ask, for no one has managed the
difficult task, of finding the island, and claiming the glory for proving the island isn't just a story.

From whence did this fantastic tale appear? That, at least, remains perfectly clear. A sailor washed up upon the shore. And it was he, who started this lore.

"An amazing island," he said at the tavern, "With beautiful trees, and a winding cavern. Birds of all colours flew through the sky, leaving feathers in ample supply.

All the natives, these featers they wore; they had a very interesting sense of decor. Glowing paints adorned their faces, I tell you, it was the most amazing of places!

A spring that can heal, nearly any disease, you must believe me, I implore you, please! It has its very own bank, and what's more, there's a training school right there on the shore!

Oh, and the Wheel, oh the Wheel, was such a very good deal! It cost just a few Neopoints, and almost never disappoints!

And that, my friends, is what I have to say, about the mysterious island I discovered today." The sailors all laughed at such a tall tale, and joked that he had drank way too much ale.

There's also a page about the Lutari pet, but it doesn't say that it's just for the cellphone users and it doesn't look to be from Lutari Island, but someplace (new?) called Infusio Island. They like cold regions and underwater areas. So keep your eyes open. This new pet may just be obtainable only by people who use their cellphone, like the new Lutari Island looks to only be available to cell users.

Lutari is a species unique to the recently discovered Infusio Island, although it has now spread to all parts of Neopia.

Most Lutaris, however, still consider the drifting islad their home.

Going to the Neopets site everyday kind of jacked up my phone bill.

I do hope they create a not-so graphics-rich site, like the WAP site of portals like Yahoo.

Infusio is a company which makes games for mobile phones. It also creates WAP sites Thanks for the info - I really, really want a Lutari so my phone battery/bill is going to get a hammering soon hopefully

Ugh. Commercialization sucks. As far as I'm concerned, I will never spend money on my Neopets addiction. I draw the line there.

I can't really imagine a colour they could produce for it that will make me go whoa...

Why?
I wouldn't quit just because a certain pet is only available to people who use their cell-phone to play Neopets. I can't get one anyway, I have four pets and wouldn't morph any of them.

I wouldn't quit Neopets. The only thing that would make me quit is if my reputation was ruined or if Sunny hated me. (There is a girl I know on Neopets named Sunny, she's my best buddy ^^)

I apologise for being rather selfish in my previous post. In my excitement that the Lutari might finally be released and I might actually be able to get one, I overlooked the fact that the Lutari may well be unavailable to those who don't have a suitable phone or aren't prepared to pay (presuming that this mobile phone-based game or WAP site is how we get hold of Lutaris/Lutarii). And that does indeed suck Hopefully they will make morphing potions, and the Lutari will be available through the lab or limited edition releases on the main site.

Why do you people think Lutari would be only for cellphone users? TNT said it wouldn't be limited edition. If you actually read the article/poem carefully, it just says that there will be a place called Lutari Island on cellphones. This may mean more games for cellphone users, but we probable still get thee pet.
