I heard a rumour on the Neoboards that Premium members now get access to a Super Shop Wizard, that shows the lowest prices on the first refresh.
This had better not be true

i doubt it...
but if it IS true, that's so completely wrong...
Sat Jul 30, 2005 3:56 am
Ugh, I hope not
But the current shop wizard only searches a few letters. For the "super" one to show the lowest price, wouldn't it have to search all the letters?

Check the BDC. A lot of angry people there...
And yes, I belive it searches all the letters for the cheapest price, totally destroying a form of income for thousands of users =/

Well it was bound to happen. Good thing I'm no longer involved with neopets as much as I was used to. It was to be expected that they would tip the game to favor paying customers.
I'm sick of this.

OK, yes there is something called the "super shop wizard" for premium. Yes it gives you a list of the least expensive item. You can't (at least I can't) refresh like the regular wiz, you have to click "try again" and start over. And you only get two or three searches before you're wiz banned. The first time I was banned for 20 minutes - after 2 searches (just to see what this was about), the second time after 1 search I'm banned for an hour.
So it's not like premiums are going to be searching over and over for the cheapest of everything. I'd say for me it could be useful more for pricing a particular item so I know my price is in line with my name.

Ahh, well I guess that's okay then. Sort of.
I'm still not all too happy with it though. This has already made it that little bit harder for non-Premiums to get more NP. The day that Premiums get restocking advantages is the day I quit.

I can't imagine that there will be any sort of "premium" restocking. Even I, a true novice at rs'ing (just got faster internet -- but I'm not doing very well yet) would think that was completely and totally unfair.
I don't know how this "super" wiz is going to work out. I guess for people who spend alot of time on their portal it might, and I stress might, be slightly helpful. Me? There are days when I don't even go to mine.
Sat Jul 30, 2005 4:57 am
Uhhh... what. I can't find what you're talking about.
Sat Jul 30, 2005 4:58 am
I believe it's in the portal, under modules.
At least that's what the neoboards are saying.

Psh, for a site that stresses no player should have an unfair advantage over another..... it really is unfair!

Unfair advantage at wiz sniping! I was gonna seriously get into it once the whole duping thing calmed down, but this is... just... urgh.
Sat Jul 30, 2005 6:02 am
Seriously, I can't see why this is unfair at all.
Yes, this thing (i've messed around with it twice now) searches through ALL the letters for the cheapest prices. Wooot...
but it ALSO takes a LOOONG time for it to load. I loaded mine up and the item I was looking for, cheapest price, was already gone by the time it finished loading enough for me to open the link.
I promise, it's not quite as great as everybody would think it is.
Sat Jul 30, 2005 6:18 am
I'm sorry so many people are upset by this. But honestly, I think a lot of people are really overreacting. Like EC said, it's not as though we can sit there for hours and check over and over for cheap items. We're not getting this huge advantage at wiz sniping. And IMO, Premium members haven't got a whole lot of helpful, site-related perks. Something like this is long-overdue, I say. I mean, we ARE paying for it.
Sat Jul 30, 2005 6:22 am
Apparently they get "super shop wiz" banned really fast.
Anyway, as much as it pains me to say this, yes, it's horribly unfair for those of us who can't afford to pay to play Neopets, but can you honestly say you didn't see stuff like this coming? Neopets is a company - their whole purpose is to make money, not cater to the hundred odd people who are angry with little things, because there are still, at this point, loads and loads of other players around. Of course, in the future, enough people will quit so that even fifty people quitting at once will be a big deal, but not right now, when they're still at the peak and have TCGs, a movie, McDonalds Happy Meal Toys, etc.
And as much as they try to make Neopets seem fair.. it never really has been. For example, anybody who doesn't live in or around PST miss out a lot on contests and stuff that are usually announced at 4pm NST. And people with fast internet connections, who are in a way paying more to play Neopets, make NP a lot faster.
Sat Jul 30, 2005 8:01 am
But why is it unfair? Of course you get more when you pay to play neopets. What other reason would be to pay for neopets. I think it's totally logical...
