Scam?

Sun Aug 28, 2005 3:27 pm

Dear Neopet User, Due to the number of scamming being successful
through emails, our newest rule is banning
posting
emails anywhere on our site. Therefore, you have
been caught using your personal e-mail on
Neopets or emailing a person with their email.
The Neopets Team understands that this rule is new
to most
users, so if you wish to keep your account
active
and running, please fill out the correct
information
below and return to us at
this e-mail address. If we do not receive
an
e-mail with the information within a week, we must
sadly
freeze
and close down your active account. Thank you
for your attention.

Yes!

Someone in my guild got it, report the email and any details you know immediatly.

Remember...

Keep your password secret - Never tell anybody your password, no matter who they say they are. There are many nasty people out there who would love to get their hands on your hard earned Neopoints and they will pretend to be staff, have a secret code, anything to try to get you to tell them. No Neopets staff member will ever contact you via hotmail, AIM, MSN Messenger.

The only Neomails you will get from Neopets staff will be official warnings from theneopetsteam if you do anything wrong. We will NEVER ask for information via Neomail. If anyone asks you for their password, send us what they said as well as any information you have about them using this form.

Neopets will NEVER ask for you password.

What details? and my stupid friend got it and fell for it. =/

TNT wouldn't send you an e-mail from hotmail xP And they wouldn't space the phrases out like that, the paragraphs would be intact.

Yes, it's a scam.

I actually love those e-mails.
Find them amusing and love answering them. ;)

And when I tell them the wrong information, they e-mail me back telling me about it.
That's the best part. :roflol:

Things like... anyone who could be sending the email, the email address and the message. If you do not know anyone, that's okay, but alert Neopets nonetheless.

Moreover, it is ILLOGICAL!

You cannot use e-mail or you will be frozen, so e-mail us?

:P I never get that, but people fall for it.
Every so often, on hotmail, something pops up in my inbox like...

'IF YOU DON'T SEND THIS TO 25 PEOPLE HOTMAIL WILL HAVE TO FREEZE UR ACCOUNT'

Caps and the chatspeak for effect ;)
Which company would really do that?
You still see them come round every once in a while though.

The email address is a dead giveaway. neopetsSTUFF? First, if it were real it would be mailto:neopetsstaff@neopets.com, not a misspelled hotmail address.

That and it's just completely stupid. They wouldn't do something like that.

Urg. My friends are going through a chainmail phase right now. You have NO idea how annoying that is.

Anywho, yeah. It's definatly a scam. I would kinda expect TNT to include some graphics with the mail too. Not giving scammers any ideas. XP

Anything that asks for your neopets password is a scam.
