What rule could I POSSIBLY be breaking!?!

Sun Dec 11, 2005 2:07 am

I just received this from theneopetsteam:

You have received an official warning from the Neopets Team for violating the Neopets Terms and Conditions. Pet names, account names, shopkeeper names, chat signatures, or pet/user descriptions with profane, sexual, or other inappropriate content are not allowed. If you continue to break the rules, your account will be permanently frozen. To see a list of Neo Rules, please visit http://www.neopets.com/chatrules.phtml. Please do not reply to this NeoMessage.

Now I'm scared to death they're going to freeze me because I cannot find ANYTHING remotely offensive to remove. I only have my one account (scythemantis)

Jeez, I dunno. Everything looks pretty clean; the only thing I can find offensive (slightly) is that one of your pets contains the word "weed". Just a thought.........

weird... i did look at your account, and "stenchweed the blumaroo" was the most offensive thing I could find. And it really isnt offensive :-/

So i would just take action as soon as you can and send an email to TNT asking them about it....

I checked as well and couldn't find anything that could even be considered offensive other then stenchweed, though looking did get me the new bruce av.

I never even drew the "weed" connection. When I created him years ago he was going to be "stinkweed" because he was a mutant chia and they looked like swamp monsters at the time, but it was taken.

My bruce's description did read "Visit my owner's site, Bogleech.com, for bizarre science trivia, thousands of videogame sprites and other pointless nonsense" when they would have sent me the warning, but wouldn't I instead get a "no advertizing/off-site linking" notice?

Who do I email exactly?

Hmm, odd, this one. I would actually understand it if you got a warning for having the url on the pet description. But the reason they gave? I don't know.

Did they clear anything? Your lookup, your pets' descriptions/petpages, your shop and/or gallery? Usually they do in a case of "profanity". What constitutes profanity or inappropriate seems to be a case of whoever the monitors are at any given time.

I'd write to support, c&p the warning and just politely ask what it is that is causing concern. I do hope it's not your pet name, but you never know!

I got a warning for typing the word ebay once. And a few people I know within the last week have gotten warnings for suggesting people google something. But those warnings were all for "outside links". Can't even type a word anymore without having to worry.

I looked and couldn't see anything offensive to me.. The only thing I would have picked out was that one of your petpets was named "Scumbucket" which isn't all that nice of a word I suppose. *shrugs*

I'm sure if you contact them, they might be able to tell you what to take out?

I sent to the "miscellaneous" support address...I hope it's correct, because I couldn't find ANY support category for warnings.

you always could ASK what is your with your account that they are warning you. Would always help. But then again, if neopets doesn't have the time for that... :(

if scumbucket and stinkweed are what the problem is and they have been created MONTHS ago, it certainly isn't fair to recieve a warning NOW.

People who made accounts with bad names have been using them for years even, then they randomly find themselves frozen. Fair? I think not. But this is Neopets, and as they remind us frequently, we are their guests, and fair does not matter when we're playing on their site.

hmmm, usually when they see a problem they change it, that is if it is your shop or gallery, well I mean they remove the issue...at least that is what they did for me...so the point is did your gallery have a name before, or a description?...jw...or on your lookup since it says no description now...

I bet someone reported you after the mutant bruce avatar was released and Pestilentia's name got spread around. If it is indeed one of your pet's names, then what the hell do they think you're going to do about it? It's beyond stupid to not even tell you what the problem is. Reminds me of when I got a warning for my lookup for covering up stats, which we in fact visble.

They are the holders of the keys. they should STILL be fair judges though. If they really want to get rid of a username or NEopet that has language they don't agree with, they should contact the user and say they are going to delete it, and give them time to transfer everything to a new account. That's fair. :(

If you broke a rule three months ago, then you should get punished for it. If you murdered someone five years ago, you wouldn't expect to get away with it — "Awww... BUt it was such a long time ago" is not a valid legal excuse.

(Insert Necessary Disclaimer: Not saying you broke the rules, just a generalised notice)

Yes, but it's harder when the specifics aren't known.
"You killed somebody."
"WHO?"
"*silence*"

It's hard to go to jail for killing somebody if they don't tell you who you supposedly killed :)
(obviously, if they respond, i take it back)
