I was role playing when it happened. I had the role play that was kind of dragging along going on one screen and I was shopping (It's a great time of night to do it) on another. I had 23,800 some odd points in ready cash because I had just been playing Chemistry for Beginners and I haven't been taking my cash to the bank since I'm not saving for any big ticket items.

Well, suddenly I noticed I had only 18,000NP in ready cash. I had spent only about 1,500NP so do the math. I felt that queasey feeling that happens when someone or something has picked your pocket. I know packet sniffing is possible.

Then Neopets crashed. I get a page can't be displayed message. A traceroute to the site times out. I suspect they were running on a backup (Made about three or four days ago at least so it was an old backup.) before everything went down. I don't even have a technical difficulties message.

Any one else experiencing anything like this? Whoops, Neopets is up again but I'm still about 4,000NP poorer than I should be right now. I'd love to know how someone got those 4,000NP. This does not feel good.

theres lots of random events that take a heavy portion of NP
like the mutant kadoaties takes 5k for example

and tax beast, etc.
