I was wondering if you purchase new items as they come out should you put them in your shop to sell right away or hold onto for a while to see if they increase in value?

Most items increase in value when they're first released, because players like to be the first to own them and show them off - however, most items also have no real value, and so the prices collapse.
With new items, buy them and sell them when they first get released, then avoid them like the plague unless they actually maintain their value. I usually switch from buying to ignoring after about a week.
