That's not true, since there was only one free space left, that meant 2 of the 3 squares must be mines. There are several combinations that could have worked. I'll use x's and o's to show each line with the different combinations (x's for mines)
X-3-2 -1
X-x-o-x
X-3-2 -1
X-x-x-o
X-3-2 -1
X-o-x-x
All three of the above satisfy all of the surrounding squares.
The middle one one the one I should have clicked, the one without the mine.
