Multiplayer Monthly Tournament Advice Needed

Mon Aug 23, 2004 7:59 am

I'm playing Round 3 in the Geos Monthly Tournament. My problem is this: Round 3 ends sometime in the next 24 hours or so. I've Neomailed my opponent several times, requesting that we set up a time to finish the game. She won't answer my Neomails, but will play her move before enough time passes when I can hit the "Move or Lose" button.

I think what she's doing is hoping that I'll hit the "I Give Up" button and forfeit the game. Since it's Round 3, if I lose I will still get a Bronze Trophy (which she already has.) If I forfeit the round, she'll get the Silver Trophy.

What happens if I don't forfeit the game, and the game is unfinished by the time the new Round 4 assignments are made? Will I still be able to get the Bronze trophy, or do I have to forfeit the game in order to get it?? o_O

I absolutely hate it when opponents do that. Unfortunately, the last person to move is considered the winner in the event of an unfinished game. Your opponent is hoping she'll be the one to make the last move, so she'll win without having to actually play you and risk losing. It's cowardly and annoying, and is the major flaw of multiplayer tournament games.

Cranberry, thank you for the quick reply! After much thought, I've decided not to hit the "I Give Up" button. Although if I forfeit the game, I would earn a Bronze trophy, it's not worth it to me. I'm not about to let this person automatically get a Silver trophy. I guess I'll just have to sit on Neopets all day today, and move as soon as she does. The thing that burns me up is that I'm pretty sure I'm ahead of her in the actual game we're playing.

I wonder if TNT is aware of this 'strategy' some unethical players are using in order to win multiplayer games. I'm thinking of neomailing Support, but I don't know if it would even make any difference.... :(

If you gave up, does that person not get a Silver trophy automatically?

Ouch. I hate it when I get players like that... Your best bet is hope she moves today or early tomorrow. Then a few minutes before they start deleting the old games, make your move. Unfortunately, I don't know the time they do that.

It'll make the difference of trying. Go ahead and mail them -- you'll feel slightly better when you've done it.

Best of luck to you -- if you manage to beat the person, it'll be great :) (of course, he/she will try again next time, maybe getting the trophy. But you tried to prevent that :) )

Can anyone else verify if this information is true? I was the last person to move in an Armada game against a person who rarely moved, but when the old games were deleted and the new games started this week - I never got a new Armada game. I was online when TNT updated the games and I got new games in Geos and Kacheekers, but no Armada - even though I saw that I was the last person to move right before they deleted the old game.

Any thoughts?
