Freaky factory-- Staff members?

Does anyone know what happens if you hit a neostaff member with a paintblob in freaky factory? I've seen Adam, Donna, and piratezug.

I've never had anything happen if I hit them with the paint blob - I think they're just there to try and distract you.

Nothing really happens when they pop up.

I've also seen petpets like Kadoaties.
