Should I trust them?

Fri Sep 10, 2004 5:28 am

I recentlly got enough money to get a darigan pb, and I fianlly agreed on a price with someone on the trading post. But since theres a 800k max thingy, they said i could bid 500k on two diffrent lots, and the last bit on the actual pb. The question is, should I do it? If anybody wants to take a look at the persons acount, this is there username: lowmy_neo_88

Also, I suggested that I ask to be there neofriend, and they could put it in auctions as a nf only auction, this was there reply:
haha.i have nearly 800 neofriend and all of them are rich and want to buy my darigan pb.i think place at trading post better

so, what do you guys think? Should I trust they won't steal my 1mil that i'm bidding on the other to lots, or should I insist I use the auctions?(I really don't want them to get smurf off, they were the only person on the tp that was willing to sell it to me for 1.2 mil)

Nope.. I personally wouldn't trust them.
If they were trustworthy.. they'd do the auctions way.
Don't care how much nps someone has.. how old their account is.. how many uber items they have up for trade.. how great their pets are.....
It's sad but you just can't trust people on Neopets.

If they don't want to do it the auctions way.. just wait to get yourself that pb.. someone else will come along with it.

digital, while it has become an increasingly common practice to put bids on multi-lots to pay for 1 expensive item it's also a very BIG risk. It is unfortunately a very common scam.

This one? I say a loud NO - do NOT do this. I highly doubt even the "famous" people on Neo have 800 n/fs -- I don't even know if you can have that many.

Either way, this just smells like a scam in the making to me.

I don't think that it is worth risking your hard-earned NPs into a 2-lot bid. His reasoning for the NF-only auction ("Most of my (800) friends are rich...") is quite lame. Personally, if I have neofriends, I won't be going out to check the auctions of each one of them. And if ever one of his neofriends bid on the PB, then move on, and find another seller.

800 neofriends? you cant even have 100... its too many, and you wont be able to receive requests... so obviously hes lying. just give him 800k np, and 2 items worth 100k, or find another lot

If you really can't find someone, then it's...1.4 mil in the HT. Just a couple more 100 thousand, right? :p

200k may mean a lot to some people. Anyway, you shouldn't trust him, he is obviously lying. You can ask him to just put it on the auctions and never mind if his other "rich neofriends" bid on it, since they are most likely fictitious. :P

No for sure, don't do it, that really sounds like a scam to me. Just offer him 500k and pay the rest with easy to sell items. (the jackpot scratchcards, petpets like ona, petpetpets or other stuff which is really easy to sell)

If they're really trustworthy, why not do it the auction way?

I myself wouldnt trust them. But in the end its your choice, good luck getting you PB either way

Fri Sep 10, 2004 9:58 am

no, you shouldn't do that unless you are trading with me  j/k..anyway, do not do split trades unless you trust that person.

Fri Sep 10, 2004 10:00 am

yeah, the only time you should split the trade is when, you offer and get the pb trade first

Never ever ever agree to that stuff, it's too easy to get scammed, and really there's nothing TNT can do about it because -you yourself- offered 200k on that junk item. When I bought my Darigan PB they asked to do that too and I said no, so we did an auction... I'd suggest to the guy to make it NF only, and make the increase in price (whatever that's called) to be like 100k so that if his NFs are smart, they won't bid over you... besides, what's it to him if you offer 1.2mil and someone else offers 1.3? He makes more money, what's he afraid of? IMO he sounds like a scammer.

I really hope you didn't buy items to trade with. This, in my opinion, is a scammer who has no intent of selling the Paint Brush to you. There is a small chance he is telling the truth, but 99.9% of the time, it will be a scammer.

My brother got scammed in much the same way. He offered 1mil total for an item, and the person accepted the junk offer, but not the real offer. I can tell you, everything about that says "scammer". The way he won't do auctions, the way he wants you to bid 500k on both lots, rather than 800k on the PB and 200k on a junk lot, and the way he's trying to convince you that it's the only way he'll sell. Besides, 1mil even is quite low for a Darigan PB, which is another tip-off. Don't offer, and make sure to warn your friends against trading with him if he continues to insist on two different lots of pure.
