I have found a music file I can put in my userlookup however I'm not sure if this is against the rules. I have seen music in Guilds and shops countless times, however I recall seeing in News, we cannot put music in our Userlookup. Can anyone inform me if this is true?

I see a bunch of userlookups with music in them. I say go for it.
They also say putting CSS in your userlookup is against the rules...

But I don't want to get frozen for something I simply guessed would be alright. I rather know for sure, you know?

I've never seen in the news that you can't. I've seen what, five userlookups with music in them, and they're fine. I've had CSS and custom hobbies in MY userlookup since forever, and I'm not frozen, so I really doubt you'd be.

Okay, thanks. I'll put it in.

I think they're semi-okay, but Neo's disallowed the tag to put it in, so you can't anymore (unless you use some alternate obscure tag that allows you to evade it).

I'm using this code,
- Code:
<img dynsrc="http://www.boomspeed.com/starlight/goingunder.mid" loop="100" width=0 height=0><center><img src="http://www.boomspeed.com/starlight/mbanner.gif"></center>

Ah, don't do it, Ammer! Gah, I can't stand music on Neopets. I mean, if it loads fast and I'm not listening to music already, it's cool -- but most of the time, it'll (A) interrupt my current music (B) take a LONG time to load (C) be a really nauseating tune.
Having said that, have fun putting music in your lookup.

Really? I'm the opposite. When I see music loading, I pause my music, and listen to the song on Neopets. A lot of the time it's a catchy tune. ^_^

Just be aware (as Alisquid says) TNT can (and will) freeze you for just about anything if you catch them in the wrong mood.

Well, personally being on dial up, music anywhere just makes me go nuts - I'll click back rather than try to buy something in a shop because I know I'm gonna have to wait for the music, animations, etc. to all load.
Music in guilds? That I think is kind of cool. It's not like buying something, you can just "hang out" and wait for the music. Unless of course you are listening to something else. But that is actually the only place where I don't mind the idea of music on the site.
I have just been keeping my speakers turned off while I'm on the site - I find even the game sounds too distracting.
Music on lookups...that's something I have no idea about - whether it's really ok or not. I know, alot of people are putting music on their lookups using an alternate code. But, here's the thing, Neo disabled the "real" code for music on lookups, so my thought is that they don't really want us using it there. And again there's a time thing - like someone wants their lookup "rated" ... they've got music, they're using a png format for their graphics and it takes 5 minutes for their lookup to even show up for me.
Saying they don't want us using CSS on lookups? That I haven't seen - I have seen some bad CSS - people disabling the sidebar links, blanking out their lookups, or the "new" thing where everything is in a little list with no user stats (shield, date started, last spotted, etc.) are shown. That's bad CSS and I have seen lookups cleared and people get warnings for those things.
So would I put music on my lookup? No ... better safe than sorry. My account isn't worth a bit of music on my lookup.

To get rid of the annoying (and usually horribly performed) MIDI music that some people decide to force on others - simply mute MIDI in your sound properties. It's sometimes called something like "SW Synth" - it depends on your soundcard really. The MIDI file will still be downloaded by your browser (a problem for 56k users), but at least you won't have to hear it. Hope this helps.

i have MIDI muted on my puter, but i still HATE to go into a shop with music. i don't care if there's a ghostkersword for 10np for sale; if the shop has music, i refuse to buy there.
unless its a gallery, music, backgrounds, banners, and all that crap just serve to annoy and clutter. when i go into a shop, it's usually for a quest and i want to get in and out fast! i'll happily buy an item priced hundreds of np higher from a clear shop, just as a thank-you to a shopkeeper considerate enough to us slow-connecters.
so maybe you won't get frozen, but you'll lose customers.

Alright, if Sims does not want it than I will definately not put it in my userlookup! Too bad, I liked "Going Under" by Evanescence on my lookup.

Very annoying. Especially if its at a public place, like a computor store. (I had to get an item for a quest of some sort, and was at Totally Awesome Computors in Utah. So I went to this store, and all of the sudden, Who let the Dogs Out?! blares. They had the speaker on full blast, so as well as being annoying, it was also embarrassing.)
