I've just noticed while restocking that the shopkeepers are not keen on haggling anymore... for an item costing 850, they won't even accept 10np less, while for an item worth 3500, they won't take 3333.... it's such a small difference in price but they just won't accept. Has anyone noticed this trend?

Hmmm... I've recently changed the way I haggle because I noticed they weren't dropping their asking prices like they used to before the "choose the pet" images were added. But haven't noticed any recent changes.

Usually they would accept a price lower by about 10% of their asking price, but now they only accept extremely small price drops. That's what I meant by change, it's not anything obvious or visible like that.

same here...i lost quite some restocks due to this. it's either you overbid or bid very close (less than 5 np difference)

I only bid 50-20 np less than the asking price depending on how much they are asking. If an item is more, sometimes I can get away with a 100 or so less, but that's rare. It's getting hard to make a profit anymore.

an example of my last restock:
You have : 732,932 NP
Your Current Offer : 14,444 Neopoints
Your Previous Offer : 0 Neopoints
The Shopkeeper says 'I wont take less than 14,581 Neopoints for it.'
the sauropod stocked for 14582 np, then...
The Shopkeeper says 'I accept your offer of 14844 Neopoints!'
Sauropod has been added to your inventory
i had to haggle twice (and overhaggle) and was lucky to get it, assuming my competitor got a similar problem.
then there was a separate case whereby i overbidded by a a few hundred np and the shopkeeper was so "kind" as to tell me "NOT to pay that much"

seriously...the nonsense got to stop..

Well, I think that this is another method TNT is using to make restocking more "fair" to everyone. By stalling those restockers on fast modems for a few seconds, making it harder for them to type the price, they figure it will give those people on slow modems a chance to sneak in and grab some items. LOL!
IMO, they might as well get rid of haggling and make all items one-click-purchase, like the igloo garage sale.

The solution is simple enough: Just offer more than the original asking price.
That's what I do anyway, and I've had no problems today.

I tried to do some restocking just to check out the new system and even when I offered the same as he asked for or more the shopkeeper refused my offer. It would go like this:
Shopkeeper: This item is worth 203 NP. I demand nothing less.
Me: Okay here, have 203 NP
Shopkeeper: This item is worth 188 at least. I have to make a living you know.
Me: FINE. Have 188 NP
Shopkeeper: Get out of my store!!!!
And so on. Very annoying!

that's what i thought so initially too but after offering what i thought was a bit more than the original asking price, the shopkeeper would not accept it sometimes.

Whenever I try to offer the shopkeeper more, he yells at me that I am paying too much. You just can't win with some people. -.-

Personally, I have no problem with it. I've actually gotten rare items because of the change! Maybe it's also to foil autobuyers.

Argh, I missed a r.90+ candy in the chocolate factory because of the stupidity. My offer: 5000 np. What he wanted after the first haggle: 5009. Stupid fool. And I was so close to getting the avatar too... *sigh* Oh well, there's always tomorrow, and the next day, and then next day, and...

Credo, the same thing happened with me.
Does anyone else get the red [x] box where the picture of the neopet is under the pricebox?
