Big shops frozen

Sat Sep 25, 2004 8:39 pm

Alombar42, bacardi42, and mauri_kota were just frozen within the past day or so for using a cheat program.

Anyone have any scoop on why some of these big map dealers were frozen?

Didn't you just answer your own question? 'for using a cheat program'

Sat Sep 25, 2004 8:45 pm

No. I really don't think they used anything like that. These are big, big players--playing for years and years. You would think that if they were using cheat programs, they would have been caught a long time ago.

And alombar had one of the biggest shops on Neopets.

That's strange... I wonder why? o_O

They were peobably subject to one of TNT's routine freezing of prestigious members. That or they were really using a cheat program

I thought that they had stopped that. o_O

What cheat program could they have been using though, honestly. o_O

I'm so out of the loop, I don't even know what kinds of programs are even AVAILABLE.

I remember. There were these users (their usernames starting with the letter "a") who were selling items really low on the wizard, and then when you went to their shop, it says they don't even HAVE A SHOP!

I hope these people are also frozen.

*shrugs* Who knows why they're frozen.

Maybe they cheated and are just now getting caught.
Maybe they self froze for whatever reason.
Maybe TNT froze their accounts to prevent some hacker/scammer whoever from taking whatever from their account.
Maybe TNT just decided to pick on them just b/c they could.

Anyone's guess is as good/bad as the next.

From what I understand, there are all sorts of cheat programs that you can download. I just don't see why people who have invested 3-4 years of playing Neo and amassed fortunes would use a cheat program. I honestly don't think they would risk their accounts to do that.

I am not them--so only they know if they cheated. But, I do a bit of reselling myself--on an extremely much smaller scale--so I know there are bargains galore out there--if you look for them--map pieces for 100 nps, etc. And the stuff they sold seemed to be stuff you couldn't restock in stores--map pieces, neggs. So, I don't see how it could have been an autobuyer.

I just find it strange that 4 of the biggest map/negg dealers were offed at the same time (I just found out that xmas_in_uly is also frozen). And, that if they were actually using a cheat, they would have been found out long before now, you know?

If you try to log into their accounts it says, "frozen for using a downloadable cheat program." If they had self-froze or been frozen for any other reason, the chia policeman would have said that instead.

I remembe when I was new I used a program that would automatically search the shop wizard and buy codestones if they were belowe a certain price. (This was before I knew it was cheating.)
Maybe they were using a new prog that they thought couldn't be detected? Or maybe the neopets team figured since they were so good at restocking the must have been using a program?

I hope these people are also frozen.

I seem to remember that that was caused by the moving of shop databases, and quite a lot of people were affected this way.

Maybe they built their accounts via cheating and didn't get caught until now. Maybe they got greedy. Greedier.

If you try to log into their accounts it says, "frozen for using a downloadable cheat program." .

Of course that doesn't mean they were actually frozen for that reason, TNT has been known to be liberal with the truth in those frozen messages.
And "downloadable cheat program" doesn't necessarily mean auto-buyer. Maybe they cheated to get an avatar or a trophy or something else. Maybe they downloaded Netscape and TNT decided that was an unfair advantage, who knows with them.

I am curious--why would netscape be considered an unfair advantage? I don't use it--but my daughter sometimes does. I just assumed it was a different method of browsing the internet.
