Grundo Abundance at the pound?

Sun Oct 03, 2004 4:26 am

I've been searching the pound for a new pet to lab for a while, and i swear I've come across 27 different Grundos, all with a name starting with grundo, and ending in a bunch of numbers. I can't help but wonder if it's the same person just creating and leaving them there? It's an odd coincidence that they all appear there with similar names..

I don't know for certain, but I believe that when moving through the pound, you do get random pets, but they are sorted alphanumerically and three random pets are chosen beginning with a set of letters or numbers. In this case, you just happened to get all the "G's".

Somebody claimed (on neoboards) to be doing that with Rukis b4 it was common knowledge that they can be created by anyone. Gave them terrible names as well and people adopted them quickly...having not read the news. I guess the person felt like bragging about the silly deception of it all. Somebody might be doing something odd. You know ... WAY too much time on thier hands.

Yeah I notice the pound gets a species dump every so often, usually if it ticks me off enough I'll go make a spare account, adopt 4, and self-freeze. I've done that twice today for pets with names like "1935428647" - they're just a waste of space IMO.

I think someone explained this a while ago.

Every so often, neopets goes through all the names in the pound beginning with "g" or a random letter of the alphabet. And they all get put to the front, so all you see s "Grundo_28147782346375634726" "Grundo2403823489375827" etc.

Yeah, what everyone else said.. on any given day you can often see all the pets with similar names because it runs through them in cycles.

Adopting 4 pets and self freezing is a bit drastic, I mean you're never going to get rid of the tide of badly named pets. I do think we should be able to delete pets, however, because I wanted to do that a while ago to correct a capitalisation mistake, and I couldn't :/

I saw some kid on neoboards saying he was creating them and pounding them with a few of his accounts just for the fun for.

doesnt it cost money tho? i mean i know you get nps for making a pet, but isnt the price of pounding them more than the amount you get?

I remember when there was a glitch with Moehogs in the pound or something.

You're only allowed to abandon one pet per day if I remember correctly. I once self froze a spare account I didn't want but first I wanted to abandon the pets on that account. I abandoned one, then I tried to do it again but it wouldn't work. I got a message saying I had to wait 24 hours.

That's not true, because you can only abandon one pet a day. :>

Hence the use of multple accounts

Well, I guess it gives the do-gooders of Neopia something to do. There are a number of neopets adoption agencies floating around in the guilds. And every now and then a sob story about abandoned-then-saved pets shows up in the Neopian Times.

I agree that you should be able to delete pets. Or that they would disappear if their account remains frozen too long. But in a way Neopets is already doing that: they cleared a ton of names just recently, and I was able to create two pets with really good names. :)
