Any Mac users with this problem?

Sat Oct 16, 2004 8:19 pm

This is more of a tech support question. I wasn't sure where to put it (here or in the forum for computer stuff) but since it's strictly a Neopets problem, I decided to put it here. Sorry if it's in the wrong place.

Anyway, I was refreshing a lot the other day for restocking, and everything was fine. The next day, I opened Safari to go back on Neopets, and none of the images would load. My Activity window says it can't connect to images.neopets.com. And it's not just happening on Safari, I've also tried Firefox and Internet Explorer and none of the images will load on any of them. Has anyone else had this problem, and knows how to fix it? Thanks so much, I really hate having to switch to another computer just to go on Neopets. :)

My friend has that problem with her slower Mac. She cleans out her temp web files to fix the problem (I've heard her complain about it ALOT)

Hmm. That's odd. It's never happened to me, but it may be a problem with your cookies, or the cache.

To clear the cache (all the images of the sites you go too are stored there, so that it won't have to load them again the next time you go back), click 'Safari' on the menu bar, then click 'Empty Cache' (or, instead, just press option+command(the button with an apple on it, on your keyboard)+e.

To clear your cookies (this will log you out of any sites you've stayed logged into), you can either do it by hand, by going to your Safari Preferences (in the Safari menubar item, or by pressing command+comma), then Security->Show Cookies->Remove All, or Safari menubar item->Reset Safari (doing this will clear EVERYTHING, aside from your bookmarks. All the autofill items, cookies, cache, etc.).

If all else fails, use a different browser. :/

I already cleared my cache and did the Reset Safari thing. And it's doing it on other browsers too. Normally I'm pretty computer savvy but I have no idea what's going on with this. :( Thanks for your help though.

*ok* I'll ask her for you. She might know.

EDIT: She recommends restarting your computer ? Hope that helps

have you also scanned your computer for a virus? my mac friend doesn't get alot, but maybe its being a problem.

also, you haven't installed any new programs? sometimes they change settings, just completely randomly.

and if you have a firewall, mine has a list of which sites to allow, and it generally blocks alot of others i wouldn't have considered a problem *overprotective thing i have to turn it off all the time  * so maybe you want to check those settings as well.

other than that i'm sorry i can't help you more, i only know 1 person who uses a mac. and hes not online right now :(

edit: i asked him and he hasn't a clue sorry :( its loading fine for him.

That's the weird thing, I didn't change any settings on anything or install any new programs or anything like that. I thought it might've been because I was refreshing the shops so much that I just kinda broke the images or something. :( I'll keep working on it. Thanks for all your help. :)
