Now I am starting to get sick of the chain letters in the trading post.
I want someone to start trades saying
"Put this message in your trades to stop chain letters.
The type this in ten trades doesn't work.
It has been approved by neopets that it doesn't work."
I need to take a stand now.
This is making me ANGRY!

I agree. Only thing you can do is report them, I guess :/.

Yeah, when I wanna offer on an item, it doesnt work -.-

Thing is, they know it doesn't work, so they must be purposely putting it in trades and chat to annoy people. That's what annoys me!

The mod's need to start warning people for chain letters... it doesn't seem like they have real human mods who check things anymore... just auto bots that do it, then the humans have to fix the mistakes the bots made.

Type this into 10 of your posts, then go to your inbox and wait for hundreds of angry messages.....

So true! So true! I hate these things, infact, it's what got my mafia stars on the old PPT.

I did one of those a long time ago. I got a nice letter from some person who wasn't angry. Some of the people are just misguided New Member who need guidance

I did that once.. Went
"Type this message in ten different boards and you will be frozen. This works. It has been guarenteed by The Neopets Team. It has worked for everyone so far."
And I got reported. :/

Reported? That's mean. It's only the truth!

Oh, yes, I've seen that happen many times. It is unfair that you got a warning though.

I find that the best way to stop them is to neomail the person who's posting chain letters and politely tell them to stop, and why it would be in their benefit to stop. Most likely they'll apologize and even thank you. It may seem like a lot of work, but reporting them doesn't really help much. I'd rather see if I can get them to stop in an instant than send a report to TNT and have the chain letter poster post 9 more times before they're warned or frozen. Just think that for every one you stop, you stop 10 more from starting.

I did that twice - once as just joking around, the second putting that for part of a post to tell people not to do it. I forgot
MattEdit: Please don't double post. If you want to post something before another person has posted, use the edit button, please. I've combined your posts.CrewWolf wrote:I find that the best way to stop them is to neomail the person who's posting chain letters and politely tell them to stop, and why it would be in their benefit to stop. That's a good idea. Not only do you get a calm responce, there won't be all ten of them, and they won't be frozen for something they don't(Or may, and certaintly should...) know about.

I don't think it would do much. How can you stop chain letters by spreading another one? It's best to just send a simple neomail to the person saying they shouldn't do that.

The problem is, anti-chain letters usually are looked at as plain chain letters- you see, the manner is so similar and the same amount of words is used, and the main purpose for those who keep the site to stop chain letter is to conserve server resources, and by spamming not to spam with chain letters, it only makes the situation worse. Thus, people who post anti-chain letters will often have these messages removed and the user may be warned and/or frozen. Of course, there's the whole scamming and annoying bit, but that's only secondary- the consequences would be much greater if every active user on the site DID post ten of those messages on every board.
