i am not a hardcore avatar collector. i wouldn't swap pets for one, wouldn't pay 20m for one and certainly won't beg in the neochat to borrow one. however, i may pay a few millions to get an avatar and those avatars that doesn't take too much time away from restocking. there are exceptions though. if i like an avatar a lot, i may go beyond my normal effort to get it. on the last half-price day, i spent over 6 hrs trying to get Sutek tomb's avatar as i normally don't want to restock on that day.

I have never, ever seen the thrill in getting them. So, I really don't care how many or few I have.

However, I do realize that everyone plays this game for different reasons. I collect plushies--which some people think is a total waste of good nps. Others play to see how many avs they can get. Others play to get trophies. Others play to chat endlessly on the neoboards. And on and on. Which makes this such a great game. We can decide what we like to do and run with it--and not really have to bother with anything we don't like to do.

So, I really can't point any fingers at anyone and tell them that avatar collecting is bad/wrong/useless. If you are having fun collecting avatars, then go for it. But, if it is killing you or causing you heartache and lack of sleep, then you need to rethink your priorities. As with anything in life.

i like avatars, the guild i belong to has quite a few people who are crazy about them, but i'm not obsessed. eg, i still haven't the bloyru one or the peanut one, because i don't really want to disown any of my pets/buy morphing potions ect.

i think it was a nifty idea of tnt, but i do dislike the inflation it has caused, eg, the aisha potion i needed for my gallery jumped from 45k to 90k, something thats a bit tight for my budget now

but i do like the normal, non secret cybunny one, and do like using them when posting in my guild, so its not a complete hate

I would say that without avatars, I would have never touched some games at all (jelly processing plant, deckswabber, dubloon disaster just to name a few)

And it's quite amazing what practicing at some games can do.. so far the only one that I practiced and not get is ultimate bullseye.. the rest.. yup

The same things could be said of Galleries and Painted Pets and anything else people collect. Why bother? All it does is drain your NP.

My answer to that is, because I like collecting things.

Many people collect at least one thing. Some people collect Rainbow Items, some collect Petpets, some even collect Dung. Why? Because they like collecting these things.

Although I admit, at the moment (other than on petpages) there is nowhere to properly display all the collected avatars, I still enjoy collecting them. It would be good if TNT would create a link from the number of avatars collected in the lookups to go to a place where people can see all your avatars,

I don't object to avatars per se, but I don't like the ones that inflate useful items that many people want -- like the Grey, Orange, Halloween and Island PBs, morphing potions, transmogs, and the Lab Ray.

I remember while I was trying to buy a Gallion for one of my pets I was terrified that there would be a "Gallion Day" complete with avatar and the price of Gallions would treble or something. I wish TNT would keep the number of avatars that cause massive inflation of unbuyables and inflation of basic, useful site items to a minimum.

TNT should make most petpet avatar just having to look up the species. Only exception is if the petpet won't inflate insanly once they get an avatar. Snowbunny and Slorg are perfect examples.
I won't say Mazzew cause they did inflate, that blasted new Tyrannian wheel ruined them. I'm still hurting on the 1.4 mil I paid for mine then they go to 40k.

I was so peeved I sold my pirate Mazzew for 99k. 89 days old at the time.

Contest avatars are nice though since they inflate nothing. Same with game avatars. Game avatars are ususally hard,but at least when you get one, it's usually rare.
