Wouldn't blocking it reduce the money that Neopets is getting?

I personally have no problem with the ads and am leaving them there.

Yeah, but they don't rely solely on CTR (click through rates) to evaluate how their ads are doing And they probably have already figured in (because they do research and know people figured out how to block ads) that people who block ads are not likely to click ads anyhow.

Most people are not going to even know they can block ads. The small percentage of people who do block ads are not going to make much of a dent, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I leave the ads up in IE and Opera and flee to Firefox when I am overwhelmed. It makes me laugh to see things like the half naked lady waiting for her massage and the password hack ads, etc. , so I don't enjoy blocking the ads altogether

Anyhow, Neopets won't find a way around it. But advertisers will start having hissy fits everywhere once this catches on big time. Lately I've been seeing news articles about how great Firefox is and how people block ads...you can bet the industry will eventually find out how to stop most of the blocking. Eventually.

This was posted a while ago on the 10 page long discussion thread we had regarding the new banner. The peron originally made a topic for it as well, but it was locked by one of the mods. I don't know what you mods are thinking

I'm pretty sure that if you go to the Adblock preferences through the tools menu, then click the "Adblock options" button on the window that pops up, there should be a way to get rid of those tabs...I got rid of them myself, I just don't remember exactly what I did.

Go to tools-adblock-preferences-adblock options and uncheck "obj-tabs."

And this threads going to be locked too.

Generally it is made public when threads are locked, and his was locked because it was a repeat of a thread elsewhere which was the 10 page discussion thread on the banner.

So please don't slander the staff. We're only doing our jobs, to keep the boards clean.
