Another to add:

burstnet.com

The wav or background thing could work... I just blocked .jpg and .gif to test and the Neopets bank page look very bare :)

Netscape users should be aware that AdBlock also works for them too, since NS uses the Mozilla engine. And the latest version of AdBlock does indeed have the option to NOT download any of the ads behind the scene. Or you can just hide them if you'd like. If you add the CSS instructions that someone else posted, it will remove the blank white space at the top of the page. :)

As far as legality of ad blockers goes, it is entirely legal to use them. The worst thing that can happen is that a user with an ad blocker can be prevented from looking at the site. Some of the independent Internet publisher sites are using that tactic. In order to view their site, you have to turn your AdBlock off.

Looking to buy Snowbunny Stamp and Sticky Snowflake Stamp. If you're selling, please PM me!

In Firefox, how can you stop ads from loading altogether? They're loading in the background for me, even though I can't see them, and some of them (burstnet, ugh) are REALLY slow to load.

ETA: Nevermind. I just added the following three lines to adblock and now none of the slow ads are even loading. I guess I just had the iframe blocked before, not the ads. Anyway, these three sites plague us poor Canadian players.

Alright, well, this does require Firefox...but I have good news. I found a way to block the advertisements AND all that blank white space at the top. Follow these instructions carefully.

Step 1: If you don't have Firefox already, get it here. Configure it, etc.
Step 2: Download these 2 extensions in Firefox after installing the browser -
AdBlock 0.5.2
ChromEdit
Step 3: Restart Firefox, then click on Tools - Adblock - Preferences
Step 4: Add 3 new filters:
http://images.neopets.com/buttons/*
http://images.neopets.com/728ads/*
http://images.neopets.com/ads/*
Click Add button to save them. Then click done.
Step 5: Go to Tools - Edit User Files, then click on the userContent.css tab.
Step 6: Scroll all the way to the end, then enter a new line:
#ban { display: none !important; }
Click the Save button.
Step 7: Restart Firefox and enjoy an ad-free NeoPets experience

For IE:

Open note pad and paste the following in there:

Quote:
div.ban,div#ban {
display: none !important;
}

Then, rename the txt part of the file to css. Remeber where you put the file.

Open IE, go to Tools>Internet options>accessibility under general. Check the "format documents using style sheet" box and browse for the file you saved as css. Restart IE and you are done :)

Wow. :o Thanks a bunch!! I had the ads off firefox, but with IE, the scrolling is so much better. *hugs*

EDIT: I just reread the Firefox part and learned about the Chromedit... AMAZING!! Thank you SO much! lol

Don't thank me Kiwi, thank Xizer, he (or is it she?) was the one who posted the tricks in the first place. :D
