Your best bet, if your trying to raise a good battle pet, is to constantly train it's level and strength, otherwise, when you're done labbing, you'll be stuck with a very wonky pet.
I am going to have to disagree with that. I wouldn't advise training your pet whilst using the lab ray because you are going to waste a lot of money. Level and defense can quite commonly be lowered, and they can be lowered in dosed of 3 aswell. If you train your pet while using the lab ray, be prepared to train stats only to have them wiped down a few points by the ray. In my opinion, it is a bad idea.
On the positives of the lab ray, I have had gold, faeire, silver, (currently) darigan and a host of other interesting colors/species and thats pretty cool.
Well that really depends on how much you're planning on labbing the pet. I mean, you have to have deep pockets if you're planning on training and labbing, but it can work out for the best. IF you lab your pet for a year, you'll end up with 1-15 levels, 200+ HP, 50+ Strength and low defence. Which wil lmean that you'll have to train up to level 100, before being able to train up your strength and defence. Which will mean that you'll be paying a LOT of codestones for your defence.
I dunno, it's a matter of opinion. I don't lab my pets for their stats as such, more for the fun, and possibility of getting a cool colour.
