The whole thing about lord's name being "offensive" is complete nonsense. Sorry, but this type of thing, when I see people with user and pet names with sex, sexy, hot, hottie, toilet-related/human function-related names, etc., ad nauseum running around the site, really makes me angry.

I know a couple of people who were frozen for "inappropriate usernames". Both had 2+ year old accounts and are/were good, honest, nice people. One did get their account back - alot of us went on a snail mail and email letter writing campaign. Part of the username was in the name of an item on the site! And still is - so it can't be too inappropriate now, can it.

The fawkes thing? Glitter, I'm going to guess that the pet was deleted due to the name along with the warning? That seems to be what they're doing these days, which is at least better than just freezing for a "bad" pet name. I kinda see why they thought this, but at the same time, it kinda makes me think some of the monitors have dirty minds. Haven't any of them read any Harry Potter? Seen the movie? Anything????

With all the nonsense going on on the site, just seems there would be bigger fish to fry than an innocent pet name.

Well, I can totally understand why the filter would pick up Fawkes. Its all about context. Neopets can use it themselves because the way they are using it, they KNOW it's not being substituted for the other word. However with users, there is no way to know what they mean by it, so it's safer to filter.

Which shows how pathetically narrow the mind of the monitor who warned him is. Why should they even care about context? Who cares if the person was thinking of a vulgarity when he created that name? I can use "cutie" as my personal vulgarity and put it in my username, but no one will care. What is important is whether younger users will be badly influenced when they see that name or not, and frankly, no one will read anything bad into "Fawkes" unless they already knew the f-word.

And, I know that Lord Nword has already said before that his name is meant to be read as "nword" and not "n word". The "N Word", which I won't actually say, is what people use when referring to a nasty word used to describe black people (which originates from the origins of slavery and isn't really a bad word except for the fact that it was used as a bad word).

Oh, I know what that word stands for now. It took me longer probably because I don't live in America. :P

EDIT: Really though, when you chose that name you MUST have known it would be controversial. If I was them I would have frozen you also. Despite how you want it to be pronounced, that won't stop others from pronouncing it the wrong way and taking offense.

i must not have seen the original explanation, and i have to admit for a second there i did read it as "lord n-word", but i didn't in any way think that's what was meant. on neo, you probably should have used lord nord, that way it could have avoided confusion. i dont know, i dont think you should have been frozen since it didnt seem to be malicious

Yeah, the pet was deleted before she could finish creating it - so, luckily she wasn't frozen. But I do think neopets is going a little overboard with the name thing, especially since I've seen a bunch of names that are a heck of a lot worse than fawkes_qtee and they have not been deleted/frozen.

But whatever - one more reason that makes me happy I'm not really playing anymore. It's not worth the hassle, imo.

Personally I doubt it was fawkes - more likely to be the qtee bit, imo. I mean isn't saying someone's a cutie the same as saying they're hot?

I don't know though, my spare account's SnowBunnyCutie and nothing's happened to it. My other one is RedSoxxyGal which could be taken badly... I guess it's up to the indiidual monitor.

Don't think so, there's thousands of accounts with cutee or qtee or cutie in the name...
