I live in Singapore. What you guys said are correct. There is no place for propagandas on a kids website. We thought they knew where to stop when we see posters, newspapers and banners in every corner of Singapore saying that the government is good, you should join the army blah blah blah. Just imagine those of us living here having to bear with their propagandas everywhere we go, from the subways(we call it MRT), restaurants, cinemas, offices and even when we reach home to turn on the TV. I wish they could leave Neopets out because it is my favorite past time and now they contaminated the website. :( Guess I should change my nationality settings to US to avoid seeing all these bs.

Yeah, its got to be rough seeing propaganda all the time *he said after reading the Globe and Mail and watching FOX News*

I personally don't see how this could be any different than if a political party chose to put advertisements on Neopets. Is it really that far of a stretch to be supported by the Singapore Army or to have a banner on the bottom that says "Bush-Cheney '08"?

...and I was a bit offset by the total defense game with having Beryl the Grarl talk about manditory Military Service. I know that is the tradition and lifestyle of Singapore, but having a Neopet talk about it just seems wrong. It would be like Happy the Ixi talking about Trojans.

Hello my friend! Yes, most of us have got used to seeing propagandas everytime everywhere. I am really upset that they are making use of Neopets, my favorite website to brainwash the kids. As if, they have not done enough in real life.

Just saying, there can't be a Bush-Cheney '08 because Bush has already served two terms:p

Back on topic, this seems...wrong. Like stampsyne said, there are some things that just don't sound right. Neopets trying to make kids join the army is one of them.

I still want to know why the company is agreeing to show these kinds of ads...

(For the record, I don't know if I put that much faith in Geroge's math skills :P )

I would really like to see some sort of guidelines for the ads that they allow to show on their site. Are they taking money from whoever will give it to them or does it have to meet certain quality guidelines?

Switch it to Antarctica--they don't target anything. Then again, people keep asking me if I really live there. That gets old pretty quickly.

It's Neopets, people. They don't care what the ads are, as long as they make money off of them. -_-
