I'm not sure specifically what it does- but I do know it's bad for your pet and makes them sick.

It does? Mine must be immune...I thought it was just the poisonous one that did that? *goes to try glowing jelly on pets*

Well there is that rumour that if you feed your pet too much glowing jelly, it turns into a glowing pet.
But I don't think that's anything other than a rumour. :P
