If they knew we had multiple accounts, they would already know our usernames and passwords.

Neopets has all that on record, remember?

Hey... wanna give us the email address they used?

They're watching you.

Quote:
the new @neomail.com? People have already been using that claiming to be with the Premium service and that they've selected you to be some sort of tester for the new services and you'll receive special items, np, etc....but you do have to email them back with your information so they can "process" your inclusion in this special test/promotion. And the email is @neomail, not @neopets, not a yahoo, etc.

People are using a service connected to their credit card to scam people?

Isn't this technically fraud? I say PROSECUTE!!!!!

Clone, I think that email thing was happening when it was in "testing", so I'm not entirely sure if you needed a credit card, and some people have said they've signed up for the trial and didn't need one, so...

For all I know, someone could have made up the @neomail.com...I don't know how people do that, to be honest - use an email service but have it be @something else. I'm kind of stupid, I guess. What I'm saying is people are claiming to be part of some special "Premium" team offering this. I'll have to see if I can find the petpage someone posted the email on...this one they really tried to make look official, though once again, there were typos.

I'm tired, haven't slept in like 3 days except for a hour here or there... and I'm tired of these scammers/crackers/hackers. They're everywhere anymore. It's almost like they're trying this stuff out at Neo, then moving on to other bigger things. That worries me. Mainly makes me mad though.

Just everyone please be careful out there. Use different s/n for anything you sign up for, different passwords (that's one of the biggest mistakes I see people make - using the same pass for everything), don't just let your im/email out, if you use a public computer, make sure you log out of whatever site you're on and if you can clear the cookies.

Have a good night...I'm going to try to get some desperately needed sleep.

You mean the person who sent the email??

"mandy mackenzie" <staffatneopets@yahoo.com>

Pretty lame...
And if they know I'm using multiple accounts, then the should know what they are.
And so they can 'keep an eye on me' ???
w00t thats personal service for you

Hmmm I haven't gotten that e-mail, but I have had a weird thing happen involving the only account on that e-mail (my worthless gallery). The other day, I got 3 p/w requests that I know I didn't send because I never access that account, and then I had 2 strange people add me to their MSN. (Which is why I ask that anyone that adds me PM me now...).

For now, I would suggest everyone either remove their MSN from their profiles, or block all unknown buddies and make sure that no accounts are linked to your msn e-mail.

I think the safest thing to do regarding accounts is to have an email account just for neopets any use it for nothing else.

LOL, illigal. :roflol: I'm on MSN right now, and I got the SAME EXACT E-MAIL! LOL, I smell me...(Geez, I haven't taken a bath in 9 days!!)

Anyways, just make up a fake log-in (I laugh if the name and pass are real!!)
And then, block them. LOL, they'll fall for it, trust me.

<Offtopic c=green> Oh yeah! Do you know how to make 1,000,000 NP? Well, send me your username and password! I'll then do it for you! THIS IS A SCAM REPORT ME!</Offtopic>

Shadowfox, I don't have an email just for Neopets, but I do use different emails for different things, and my friend has her own email addy, though using just one separate email may be a good idea...will have to think on that and what to use (that's a secure email).

As to removing MSN (along with ICQ, YIM, AIM, email, personal websites that have your email) that is the best idea, though just in looking at this page, I see many people do have buttons with this information and clicking on a profile (or simply putting your cursor over some of the buttons) will give you a s/n. So, if you have it up, remove it. The world truly doesn't need to know any of that.

I do have YIM, but I only have it because I have to be able to keep in contact with a few other people re: the forum I now help out with. Those are the only people on my list and I keep the darned thing on invisible unless there's a mod meeting or I have to contact the owner quick (I don't really like instant messaging)...I also have a completely different name on it than anything else.

As far as responding at all to these emails? Don't. What if you're just verifying to them that it is your email, what if, like some emails, yours contains information about you - your IP, etc. And making up a s/n and pass? What if is truly IS someone else's. That would just be too awful that someone else ended up losing their things and/or their account because someone replied with "fake" info.
