Just came up with a good idea. What if TNT gave you the option of making your own personal Shortcut on the toolbar?

Sort of like a text Button, like your username at the top. You could link it to any page on Neopets.com!

I mean, people were arguing that Stuff should be changed to this or that or who knows what else. This sort of solves the problem, doesn't it? Most people will likely make it a shortcut to their inventory, but others might use it as a shortcut to a certain petpage, guild, shop, auction, trade, whatever!

You could even put it at the top of the toolbar- a nice and easy place to reach, right next to your username

What's everyone else think of this?

I don't see what's the difference with just creating a shortcut to your frequently accessed page.

I'd love it if I can set a specific page I want to go to on the toolbar! Saves me from clicking on shop first before my inventory.... Many BDers will set the Dome as their link, very convenient indeed

Yeah, but not everyone can be bothered or even knows how to do that, ya know. I mean, I know it's basic, but until two years ago, my Dad needed me to help him shutdown the PC

And anyway, it'd be a lot more effective, and pretty damn cool, if TNT did let you make a shortcut. I mean, if I had that shortcut, I would use it all the time to get to my inventory, but if I had it on my Favourates, Frequently accessed files, Bookmarks, whatever, I know I wouldn't go to the trouble, even if it only meant pressing a combo of 2 or 3 buttons on my keyboard. It'd just be an awesome feature I think. Instead of working on making the Auctions unfair, TNT could spend a few days devising this little system.


Yay! Someone agrees with my ideas! I could go further and say that having 2 or 3 shortcuts would also work, but then the toolbar would just get cluttered

I'd never noticed that before.

Because there's one in the shops and one in the games.

I don't know why but as I think of this new link, something's bugging me like I know if it happened something BAD would come out of it...

Yeah, I sort of got that feeling as I made the thread. I dunno though. The only bad thing I can see coming out of it is if a scammer manages to trick someone into changing their link to their petpage for some odd reason, or if people used it as a way to get more votes (eg: OMG!!1 LykE PuT THiS iN yOUr ShOrTcUt An GeT 5000000000000 neopoints neopets.com/beauty/details.phtml?pet=XXXXX)

You can't make a serious scam out of it, since it would only lead to pages in the Neopets servers. Heck I would use it as a simple way to get off the petpages server when I get stuck on it whilst buying stuff So long as they make the shortcut only work on Neopets pages, you should be fine I think.

Personally? I don't think it's necessary. Please no more changes to the sidebar! I'm still sitting on a new custom sidebar for my lookup until Neo decides whether they're keeping the word "Stuff" and/or changing the order of the toolbar - again! Plus there is a scam possibility.

All links in neo being safe? - aren't. I don't know how, don't want to know how, but lately people have been scammed on the site. People have been advertising an auction they're running with a link to the auction. Click the link and it automatically bids on that auction (as long as you have the np out - I'm not sure what happens if you don't).

So I don't follow any shortcuts on Neo or any other site unless I've got the shortcut in my favorites.

to be honest, if someone doesnt know how to add a favourite or whatever to a page they're not likely to be able to work out how to change the sidebar button!!

Great idea! I'd put the Shop Wiz there.. I use it SOOOO much!

My favorites list has so much crap on it, a shortcut to somewhere on Neo would be nice.

Although, a site already offers that option. Creature World I belive, its hosted on the same server as the IDB.

Anywho, I do agree that it would be useful, or even better a drop down list of you're favorite places on neo that you have to click a little button to see.

I guess it's got it's ups and downs, but as does almost any other aspect of the site, you know?

Trades = scam hole
Auctions = scam hole
Shops= scam hole
Neoboards = Ice Palace

-but also-

Trades = a great place to trade, sell and buy UB items and find good deals
Auctions = fun and fast paced place to get great deals on all sorts of items
Shops = to sell your stuff
Neoboards = a place to make friends, talk to others, etc.


Every feature has it's ups and downs. But I can see more good coming out of the shortcut than bad. Even a drop down list like watericesage suggested would work. And if someone is dumb enough to fall for a scam involving the shortcut, then they don't deserve to even use the shortcut in the first place. TNT could make a little warning, telling their users of the possible scam danger.

And everconfused, I can imagine the annoyance you suffer whenever something on the toolbar changes, but I'm talking about the shortcut being just at the top of the toolbar, right next to your username. Out of the way of most things, yet easy to get to. So very little, if any changes to personal lookups would be neccesary

r4che1, you got a good point there. But like I said before, a lotta people just can't be botherd setting a page to favourates. Too much hassle, and like Zero said, some people's favourates are really clogged up (like mine )

I'm just sick of having to go through two or more pages, just to find what I'm looking for. I know it's not much, but I'd still really prefer if I could (in one click) go to the shop wiz, my shop, my inventory, the battledome, whatever. It'd make life just that -little- bit easier, and if someone is nervous using this feature, then they simply don't have to use it.

I think that is a really great idea to have a shortcut drop-down menu up at the top. That would make it so much easier to get to things that you may need to get. You should pitch the idea to TNT.
