I used to be able to get rid of surplus omlettes and junk by auctioning them whenever my shop was full.

But a couple weeks ago I tried to auction an omlette, and I got this:

Quote:
Sorry, Plain Omelette is too cheap to put on the auction.
Only items that sell for roughly 200 NP or more qualify.

Ew, I don't like that at all! I suppose it's to thwart scammers, but I don't think there should be a price limit on items you can auction. Before you know it, we won't be able to sell items under 200np...

Well all I know is it had to be less than 3 or 4 months ago. I kind of stopped using that feature when I enlarged my shop.

I tend to price omelettes in my shop 80 to 90 np (possibly overpriced, but more for donation sort of purposes) and then either store the build up for later or auction them at 50 nps.

It used to work really well when I was out of space in my shop. Sometimes people would bid 100 nps on them and jelly.

But now that my shop is bigger I don't run out of space as often. Though now it's practically empty.

They do that so people don't try to convince new people that the item is really worth 2000np or whatever you get when you sign up, because that happens alot. Scammers run wild.

I like it because it cleans up the auction house. Anything under 100k shouldn't be sold in the auction house, that's why we HAVE shops..

But auctions can bring in more np for cheaper items. I used to auction scratchcards at Wiz min prices, knowing that the would go sometimes for 50% more than I would get if I just stuck them in my shop.

When I first started playing Neopets, I put everything I wanted to sell up for auction. It was really nice, because I got an idea of an item's true value versus its estimated value on the information page thingy. If it weren't for auctions, I would've sold my first codestones for 600 Neopoints, oblivious to its actual worth.

I agree that they shouldn't limit the price or ability to auction items. Its supposed to be a player driven and run economy. I also hated how they don't give the exact time left to bid.

Unless this has changed since the last time I made a bid on an auction (which was about a week ago) what Premium users can see is the time left on their own auctions, NOT auctions they're bidding on.

So, no, no one on Premium is making a "killing" unless they're uber auction snipers. And if they are, then they would be whether they were premium or not.

Heh, that is why Neo should add a PAWN shop or something :P To keep the prices of the economy flowing and such.
