Congratulations! You have guessed correctly in the Lenny Conundrum game (round 137). You have won 591 NP!

Because you were in the first 250 to guess correctly, you also have been awarded a Meerca Catapult (TCG), and receive a trophy and the Lenny Conundrum avatar!

-----
This one wasn't not too bad ... just a simple kinematic equation or conservation of energy.

Kinematic Equation:
vf^2 = vi^2 + 2 a y

vf = final velocity = 0 (at highest point)
vi = initial velocity = 20 m / sec (it leaves the catapult with the same speed it hits it with ... conservation of energy requires it)
a = acceleration = - 9.9 m/sec^2 (from problem ... negative because it slows down the block)
y = Height above catapult it goes.

0^2 = 20^2 +2 (-9.9) y

y = 400 / 2 (9.9) = 20.20 m ==> 2020 cm

OR

Conservation of Energy"

1/2 m v^2 = m g h

initial (kinetic energy) = final (potential energy)

Notice the mass (m) cancels out.
h = height. g = acceleration due to gravity. v = initial velocity.

Come up with same equation.

h = v^2 / 2 g = 20^2 / 2(9.9) = 20.20 m = 2020 cm

----

There is a third way ... where you have to find the time it takes to reach the top ... and then find how far it went ... I have not included that solution.

Guess you have to be real early to get the first 250
I guessed correctly at 4am NST and didn't get the first 250 (guessed correctly)

Whoot! Got it right. I just learned that in Physics too. :P Didn't get in the top 250, but I didn't expect to.

New one's out:

How many users successfully removed at least one block from the Scroll Repository pyramid? Please round down to the nearest hundred.

O_O!! I think it was mentioned somewhere in the splits but this stuff just makes my head spin..

No, it is a random "educated" guess question. I really hate these "pick a number" ones.

I'll make a "wild" guess ... and just hope.

No one except TNT knows the answer to this one.

We do know how many blocks were removed ... and we know how many people fit on a given block .... so it is just a matter of deciding how many blocks (on average) each person moved.

Good luck with your guesses!

We actually discussed this on the LDP thread after the block moving. I found some of that discussion on split 55, if anyone is interested.

Of course, I say TNT was lurking and stole the question from PPT!! :P

Edit:

We also know how long we had to move blocks and what the lockout time was between moves.

I just used some reasoning and then guessed the rest. I forgot to round down though. :( Either way it doesn't really matter.

Thanks for the help last time, got the card, trophy and avvie. Yay!

Thanks! I couldn't remember what split it was and search for a while last night and finally gave up.

I just made a random guess since i don't follow the plot. I'm really not fond of lenny conundrums like this... or the math/calculating ones they've been giving lately :(

The math/calculating ones have been GREAT! The LC was on such a roll of having cool questions ...

Even though I don't like the word puzzles as much ... they are at least better than random guessing ones. :)

From News: A new Lenny Conundrum competition has begun. The answer to last week's was 6800. Only 16 people guessed the correct answer, earning themselves 125,000 NP each! Well done!

Dang. Doesn't look like any PPTer got that.

New LC is up:

Wow, this is the first time I think I have a chance to be in the top 250.

Hint: The colors mean nothing.
