I am very happy about the win ... but I already had the avatar from a previous win (in fact, the first avatar I got).

Just went to my prefs, and it didn't list it again. Thought you avatar collectors might have been jealous I got credit for the same avatar twice. Doesn't seem I did, though.

For all the people who complain about weird banners: scan your comp. No, Neopets doesn't advertise porn sites and doesn't insert half-page banners.

Considering they had ads loaded with winfixer recently that caused pop ups (and your pc to be infected with winfixer) I think it's safe to say that neopets can and does put dodgy and/or huge ads up from time to time. It isn't always a fault on the users end.

Are you serious? Then I was correct in my accusation of where I got the Winfixer thing. Except now it doesn't only show the winfixer thing... it shows other pop-up ads about diets, race cars, and the occasional porno ad, which is the most disturbing out of all of them.

I tried numerous times to rid my comp of it, but I guess the only way to get rid of it forever is to stop visiting Neopets... or get the dumb ad removed.

Yup, it's a pretty nasty thing to have on your pc :S Sparkygoesforth made the original thread about it here but there doesn't seem to be a link to a fix for it there... but if you google remove winfixer there seem to be a few forums with links to getting rid of it. Running spybot might get rid of it by now too

Neopets does not intentionally use these types of ads on the site but they are partially at fault in that they allow advertisers such as Ads by Google to upload whatever images they want. I do scan my computer regularly and know very well that the problem is not on my end. To cut a long story short, it does happen.




I know a few people who had to deal with the winfixer ordeal. Not fun at all.

Illusen asks me for a Desert Survival Skills for the Dim-Witted (a Lost Desert Plot Scroll) on Level 30...and these are literally impossible to obtain! This item was never really released - and the only people who have them these are untradeable items. I'm gonna submit this to the editorial - maybe they'll give me a honey potion or something, like I deserve.

I really would have preferred fountain faerie, and my battle pet isn't even on my account now, but this was a nice change from the normal faeries I get. (And check out what she's asking for! XD)
