Considering they had ads loaded with winfixer recently that caused pop ups (and your pc to be infected with winfixer) I think it's safe to say that neopets can and does put dodgy and/or huge ads up from time to time. It isn't always a fault on the users end.
Gah, it was neopets that gave me that? I've been trying to delete that forever. I had NEVER even got ONE popup on this computer after about a years use, and then one day I got a popoup about WInFixer...ever since I get about 100 popups a day (about 1/5 of them being WinFixer. It even DOWNLOADED ITSELF onto my computer and wont let me uninstall ...)
