I know that on monday or tuesday, I got eight messages from TNT (7 were identical rejections for the same NT article o_O ) and none of them had that avatar.

I think its cool :)

well, the Hannah games do have TNT in them... but I doubt there's a real connection. They were just making a joke on the nickname of TNT from The Neopets Team.

Everyone just refers to the "All your base..." thing. This isn't even the first time a neopets avatar used a bad translation from a video game joke. If you recall, the lab ray avatar has 'pwned' which comes from a bad translation in a war craft game. At least that's where it started.

Now that I think of it, having a TNT only avvie is brilliant. It will really cut down on scamming especially if they make a statement in the news like "anyone who can't show you the TNT avatar does not work for us" or something like that.

Well this is a very eye-opening thread. I never knew where pwned was from, though everyone says it at my school. I remember when neoquest I just came out. You could only play it for certain times and when you couldn't play it, there was a picture of xantan and under it it said "All your games are belong to us".

That av is awesome. I saw one in a post and i wanted. A splode :P

I would have to disagree that pwned comes from a translation of warcraft... Warcraft isn't from Japan :-p.... It's primary version is in English, i'm quite sure.

Surely someone wrote pwned simply because p is next to o....

*tries to figure out why he's discussing this*

So funny!!

I love how they're calling themselves TNT, I love the picture of some TNT, and I love A SPLODE!!

Ahhh that's priceless :D

Edit: That's odd - you should be able to see it when you look up tnt, but you can't:

The origins supposedly do come from Warcraft.... albeit it was a typo rather than mistranslation :P
Various definitions of 'pwn' wrote:
Originally dates back to the days of WarCraft, when a map designer misspelled "Own" as "Pwn". What was originally suppose to be "player has been owned." was "player has been pwned".

Pwn eventually grew from there and is now used throughout the online world, especially in online games.

Didn't everyone originally also think the same thing with the bleh avatar when it first came out. But many months later it was found that you get the bleh avatar by going to http://www.neopets.com/bleh.phtml

Maybe the TNT avatar has been released but it's as hard to find as the bleh avatar.
