I couldn't agree more!!!! And apostrophes in item names, that would be lovely.
The "moichandising" thing is intentional though, it's a joke

i remember a topic about that a while back. they were saying that its something with the coding and that they can't put in apostraphees(sp?). at least thats what i remember the gist of it is. youll have to ask someone with a better memory about it
Well....that's true. Some computer languages don't like special characters. However, if you wanted an apostrophe you'd need a special thing before it. It probably varies from language to language. For instance, in java you would use \' to get one. Java doesn't like quotes on their own either becauase it's how you print out lines and stuff.
*nods*
Basically, to sum up. Yes, you can blame that one on coding. But really, yeah, you could put the apostrophes in....but it's just a general pain to do so

....unless they code in a language that doesn't allow special characters.
As for proofreading, lol. I couldn't agree more. I've been a peer tutor for about 6 or 7 years now, and it's one of the reasons I hate netspeak. People would turn papers into me with netspeak in it, and I eventually handed them back without any comments if it had that stuff in it. But I'm better about automatically proofing everything I read now
