Axe, were you trying to place a pet for adoption? I have been known to post on a board on my lab account when my current lab pet has turned a great color or species. Just post that such and such named pet, species and color will be going to the pound in 5 minutes, I hope the pet gets a good home and good luck to whoever gets the pet.

Now, I have gotten flack from the people who weren't able to get that pet. So now I just put the pet in the pound - no board. Not worth the hassle. I also do keep my neomail/nf blocked, so no one could contact me to beg or harrass that way. But I got scared someone who didn't get a particular pet would decide to report me for trying to "sell" a pet, just to be vindictive.

So, if you did post that you were giving a pet up for adoption, or were even thinking about it, that may be where all this is coming from. I don't know what else you may have posted.

The only thing you could try is to write that support person, explain exactly what happened, if you were simply posting that you had a pet for adoption, that people were neomailing you begging you for the pet (remember any usernames? - that might help), the board, the date and time you posted, the pet you were putting up for adoption. Say that you think someone may have either gotten the wrong idea and thought you were trying to sell a pet, which you would never do, or they wanted that pet and weren't able to adopt it and got angry.

Or if you were saying you were thinking about placing a pet for adoption, say that and that people had neomailed you, you changed your mind (whatever) and again, someone must have gotten angry and decided to falsely report you for trying to sell a pet.

I would include the fact that the "report this message" is able to be falsified to make someone look guilty of breaking a rule when they in fact did nothing wrong, and that this may be what happened in your case.

You have to give as many details of exactly what happened, who if you remember any names was involved - either on the board and/or neomail, if anyone was really begging or becoming harrassing because they wanted a specific pet, anything at all that might help you with your claim that you did not, in fact, attempt to break the rules and would never attempt to do anything like that. Include an apology for any misunderstandings, thank her for her time in looking into this matter too. The staff are people too. It's nice to acknowledge that, just in general.

I knew I remembered someone posting ss of what can happen when a message is reported. Full credit to OmniIcyShelf for this - here's the topic page:

Proof that posts being reported CAN be edited/changed. Which I knew because I tested it - did not send a report myself (though the post was technically reportable - I just am not a reporter), just wanted to see for sure if it was possible. And it is. I don't know about neomail reports, I don't want to go sending a report on someone innocent - just in case.

So thats what you guys think might have happened to me? How should I explain it to the staff? They aren't listening to a word I say :(

Just keep trying. You know, I'm wondering if Neopets is one of those places where you can get a tour, like Microsoft. Heh, maybe you could walk in and ask for your account back.

Okay, I seriously have no idea what this is about, one night I was fine, next day after school I was frozen.

How do I explain it to her? I really need help :(

You could write back asking how they came to that conclusion. As in, do they have any posts of you doing this kind of thing. Since you haven't a clue about it and feel it's a misunderstanding.

Remember to be polite. Ask for quotes where neccesary.

I was frozen for the same reason on my first account years ago. I didn't try to sell or trade my account or anything though, but I was the stupid back then and let two of my friends auction things off on my ebay account periodically, since neither of them had their own credit cards at the time and I did. One of them was short of money and got the bright idea of selling off 400k or so neopoints plus about ten rare books. Being as how she listed her email in the auction, she was frozen on all her accounts, and because neopets got the email for the ebay account - which matched the one in my neopets account, I was frozen on both of mine too. So technically I half-deserved that and never bugged them to get it back. I just started over. I didn't even yell at my friend because she lost everything as well, and did learn her lesson quite effectively.

That was no help, I'm sorry.

One more thing, remember to be patient, because they'll reply your post for a long time. o_O

Axe, I just wanted to let you know that it probably was someone on the boards that did that to you. A person in my guild just stated that she had gone to the boards to say that her rainbow grundo was up for adoption (before she realized that she had to wait a full 7 days). She then went back to board to say that she couldn't pound him for another few hours due to the time limit.

And because she couldn't pound him, some kid told her that he was reporting her for scamming. I don't know if she was reported or not, but this sort of thing really stinks. Neo needs to read the actual thread and posts made before pushing the freeze button--and not just take a reporter's word for it. Because, in case they don't realize it yet, some of their users lie.

Here is the letter I just sent in to the editorial under Requests....

Quote:
Title - Unfair Option
Category - Requests

Can you change it so that when you report someone, you don't have the option to change what you are reporting?

I noticed that this is flawed and people can edit the person they are reporting to make it say whatever they want it to say and this is very bad because it can cause innocent people to get frozen for no reason whatsoever.

Yes, people can and have been frozen for all the wrong reasons in the past and I can tell you now it will continue to be that way until the monitors are changed out. I'm sure the support/freezing staff members that can hit the "SNOWFLAK'D!" button give the monitors the benefit of the doubt, and some of the monitors give the posters the benefit of the doubt (BIG MISTAKE!), which allows people to be frozen for absolutely no reason at all. I understand that the staff are busy and don't have time to investigate matters unless specifically called upon to do so, but there is no excuse for the monitors not investigating matters before sending freezing recommendations or warnings.

Perseverance is the key in getting unfrozen. KEEP TRYING! It took me three months.

Unfortunately, when Neopets sees cheating going on at a IP address, particularly cheat programs, Neopets can't tell whether there is one dishonest person who owns all of the accounts or whether there are three different people playing--two which are guilty and one who is innocent.

It is in the terms and conditions that Neo can freeze any account that "benefitted" from the cheating account. Quote: "If you cheat on Neopets games or use cheat programs, including non-Neopets software or programs, to play the games we will freeze your account. In addition, NeoPets may freeze any other account that has directly or indirectly benefited from the use of such programs."

So, if your sisters gave your account gifts or nps, that could be why your account was frozen.

Perhaps you should get one of your parents to write a letter and explain the situation and how you were innocent--and have them include something (school report cards, family picture?) to show that there are three different kids in the house who play.

I hope your sisters are doing some penance for this--like cleaning your room for the next 100 years.

charnterelle, I don't want to sound harsh, but it seems to me your sisters are too young or too immature to be allowed to be anywhere near a computer without being watched. As far as the other freezing for soemong using your ebay id to try to auction np and neo-items, well they were wrong. You could have lost not only your neo account, but your ebay account!

Don't let anyone near your accounts and if your sisters are on the computer either you or one of your parents should be there to see what they're doing. If I were a parent and one of my kids did something like that? No computer ... period. And yes, they would be cleaning your room for the next 100 years too ;)

Omni, you should be able to transfer items between accounts, I think the tp is the safest way - not send to neofriend, especially if it's a more expensive item. But don't send any np to whatever is your main account - that'll 9 times out of 10 get you frozen for "more than one account to earn np", kind of like people who try doing dailies or playing games on more than one account.

I sent 90k to my main the day after it was unfrozen :P

This was... more than two years ago, but I can't remember having ever gotten an ebay warning for it. The auction was pulled, but not before it got a pretty decent bid and my friend and the high bidder arranged to do the transaction before the auction ended, because the girl said it'd get removed. So they did and the girl paid and got her neopoints and items. I'm pretty sure she was frozen too though, for buying.

Anyway, my friend was incredibly sorry for a really long time afterwards for getting my accounts frozen. She'd never do anything like that again.
