Why do you need a negative sign anyway? It doesnt bend -1.1 inches.. that would be going up. It beds 1.1 inches.

I really can't believe this one.

Positive means upwards. Negative, downwards. They are using vector quantity where direction is indicated by the positive or the negative sign. I usually don't bother with the sign.

Ditto.. especially considering I sleep during most people's normal waking hours (because I have a graveyard shift)...

I think a negative sign is already implied when they ask for the "deflection" of the beam.

I agree 100 percent. Deflection isn't measured in the negative, according to all of the structural engineering sites I've visited. Structural stress is measured in the negative, but never deflection. I think TNT messed up on this one.

Looking to buy Snowbunny Stamp and Sticky Snowflake Stamp. If you're selling, please PM me!

Thats what I've learned in Physics, but for the most part we don't use the negative sign in our answers, we just write it down in the process so they understand that we understand how it's moving in the quadrants. I didn't think that they would want to use the negatives. Tricky tricky.

Yeah, I think TNT head is full of cheese. Of course the deflections going to be DOWN. Deflection is a downward thing, if it was negative it would mean the bean bent upwards. Wonder how that could happen. TNT probably rigged the Lenny C under some money bribe from that guild :x . *is very ticked off*

Oh, as ticked off everyone is from writing 1.1 instead of -1.1 (I'm not because I didn't try figuring it out... I'm ticked off because I'm too dumb to even figure it out xD), there is no way TNT have accepted a money bribe from a guild. That's silly. Real money just so they'll be correct? They wouldn't bribe them with Neopoints, of course... anyway, even if they would, stupidly, bribe them in real life, I'm sure TNT wouldn't agree and they may even be frozen (the bribers).

I was just talking very much tongue in cheek about "conspiracy" and such. There isn't any way to "bribe" TNT. :)

It was just disappointing to be in with the answer very early for this nice prize of an unreleased book (a couple of my favorite prizes I have are those R101 ones from the old days) ... and then to find out their answer was silly.

I just think TNT made a mistake on this one. Everyone can make mistakes ... but will they ever admit it? That would go against everything that TNT believes in. *grin*

Oh well ... if they had accepted 1.1, the prize wouldn't have actually been so valuable ... but it would have just been fun to have. :)

The new LC is out now:

What is the missing value in the following sequence?

2616, 3, 11, 10850, ________, 25, 2038

Nothing is jumping out at me on this one ...
