Hollypop, I would send a copy of that neomail to tnt when you next ask them to change the rules. That should highlight to them what the problem is and how people are abusing it.

It is infuriating and frustrating. I love checkers, but I can never get an opponant to finish a game, they plod along at one move every other day until the week is up.

I submitted some suggestions on how to handle it a while back, and I got a 'thanks for the suggestion' letter too. Some of the things I suggested:

Maybe an entry fee for the tournament, which would hopefulyl discourage people from entering the tournament with no intentions of playing out a game, I think they're just hoping for a free 24-hour move-or-lose win against someone else who doesn't really want to play either, so they can get a trophy.

Make it like a battledome fight/professional chess match. You have 1 week to meet your opponant and start the game, after the game starts you have 2 minutes to make your move, or forfeit the move. Games shouldn't last more than an hour or two at the most.

Also, there is absolutely no incentive to play any of those games versus anyone as a live game, except that you really love playing kacheekers/geos/armada. You don't win NP, you don't go up in the rankings. They need to think about revamping the multiplayer game thing.

Instead of seperating the players by age, they should make players work their way up through a ranking system based on their percentages of wins and number of games played, with more weight given to players of equal or higher rank. That way someone who is a master or grandmaster doesn't get anyting from playing newbies or beginners. I've seen some durn good 11-year old checkers players, and a few 40-year olds that couldn't beat someone at checkers if their life depended on it. They shouldn't base it on age.

Why don't we reverse our thought and do the same like what they do to us? That would be fair enough. ;P

I've sent in a suggestion about this too - they should get 1 24-hour notice, after that, if you have to send it again it should be an automatic DQ. I would've got gold several times if my opponents would just make a move/quit before the games automatically end :(

Hmm, I don't participate in multiplayer games, but maybe they could make them something like the 2 player battles? As in, if your opponent doesn't make a move in a certain amount of time, you can go to a game status? page and withdraw - and the other person would get a penalty.

I've only had to withdraw from one battle and there is a time on it - I don't think you can withdraw under 20 minutes without getting a penalty yourself.

So maybe for the games they could make the time 24 hours from the last move made, then you would win by default? Just a thought.

I know... its so annoying. I've quite playing the Multicompetition games because of people like that... I wish I had been paired up with one of you guys, who'll actually play, winning or no!

My mom once had someone get on at the same time as her, and they both agreed to play. However, the other person would not move, and when asked why she replied, "Oh... the game is boring. I just want to talk." Or something to that extent. And then when asked if she could please play the game, she started to call my mom names. And my mom was being really nice too, not even being sarcastic.

Last month, I had what I thought was a charming opponent. She agreed to play our Kacheekers game "live", so we could finish it in time to move to the next round. However, when it became apparent I was winning, she just quit moving. I neomailed her, asking her why. No response, nada, nothing. I "move or losed" her after 24 hours, and she waited another 23 hours (just under the deadline) to make her move. Needless to say, our game went unfinished, and neither of us advanced to the next round.

I think some of these players believe that whoever is the last person to move in an unfinished game advances to the next round. That may have been true at one time; I've heard rumors to that effect. But that's not what happens now. You both lose out... :(

PS: I just "Move or Losed" my Kacheekers partner again. I imagine this game will go unfinished too.

I actually had a good checkers game going, but neither of us were on at the same time, but the person actually tried to play. But we never got to finish the game. But we each only had about 5 or 6 checkers left. And I had one kinged.

My armada opponant is being funny like that now, she moved a couple of times and then didnt move. I sent the move or lose neomail, 23 hours later she moved, luckily I was online at the same time cos I was waiting to win if she didnt move, so I neomailed her and asked if she wanted to continue the game..... no reply!! And no move! GRrrrrr :x

Yep, it seems to be a definite pattern among some players. They wait until you "Move or Lose" them. Then they wait another 23 hours until right before you can click on the "I Win" button. They make a move, and then repeat the whole thing, ad nauseum. What a disappointment... :(

Well, needless to say, my opponent didn't respond to the "Move or Lose" notice, and before another 24 hours went by so I could click "I Win", the next round started. Another month of tournaments down the toilet... :x

Maybe they could reduce the 'move or lose' time to 12 hours instead of 24. You still have a whole day before you lose your turn. 12 hours before the 'move or lose' pops up, and 12 hours before the 'I win' pops up.

Or let you push 'move or lose' after say 2 hours, then 'i win' 24 hours after that.

Although personally I like the battledome type idea. Get in there, and play the game in one sit-down session. If one person stops playing or doesn't move for 20 mintes, the last person who moved can withdraw and the other guy gets a penalty or a loss.
